Not a fan of any of these obesity interventions (I lost 100 lbs in 20s diet and exercise) but I don’t want to pay glp meds forever either. Anyone I know on those meds not able to get off bc they gain more weight. Let’s just go old school and start wiring mouths shut at this point

Crazy WSJ data. Between 2022 and 2025, wealth increased 37% for Americans 75 and older, while **decreased** 23% for people under 35.

Bariatric surgery saves life
"Mike & Molly" star Billy Gardell said his dramatic weight loss journey not only changed his life but likely saved it. usatoday.com/story/entertain…

Bariatric surgery at experienced top centers is very safe and certainly safer than living with obesity…. or inadequately treated or sustained obesity.
Many patients have complications and die either attempting and failing to treat their obesity or by not losing enough weight.

True story: I had one if not the MOST successful bariatric, general, and acute care surgery practices in Connecticut 15 years ago. One day my accountant and lawyer walked in the room for a meeting in the lobby of my office which I owned along with part of a surgical center. They apologized to me and my practice members and said, “sorry but the powers that be have decided that doctors will no longer be paid”. “THEY will pay the hospitals but eventually NOT the doctors.” “THEY (powers that be) will let the hospitals figure it out.” Slowly, after a president’s law was passed our practice dwindled, decreasing year after year, despite every creative angle of legal income we created, after taking trauma overnight call at 3 different hospitals, firing half our employees, eliminating our marketing, working 80-120 hours a week, we eventually could no longer pay ourselves and we sold all, disbanded and every employee and surgeons went their separate ways. I separated from my brother after 20 years. We went to work for the hospitals because they got paid the money. The self- pay option was eliminated by insurance and all leverage to negotiate with them was gone. They have ALL the power and that is what they and Government wanted. NOW this is what the PEOPLE let happen. But the PEOPLE can complain to their politicians and the PEOPLE can vote. Don’t blame doctors, nurses, or healthcare workers, we are powerless.
This is why non employed doctors are getting crushed.
My surgeon was paid $456 for an hour+ long robotic abdominal procedure. And if you knew the anatomy, risks, training needed, etc… is just an absurdly low sum of $.
Stop telling me it’s the doctors fees.
And. He didn’t get paid for 3+mos by @Aetna despite a clean claim.
You can send your attorney an email and be charged more 😒

WE MUST ADDRESS THE CLIMATE CRISIS
The last 11 years have been the hottest 11 years on record. The last three years have been the hottest three years on record. 2026 will be one of the warmest years on record, and most scientists believe 2027 will be the warmest year in recorded history.
This past year, Europe has seen four major heat waves, including the continent’s worst heat wave ever that killed more than 10,000 people. In the United States, three extreme heat waves exposed hundreds of millions of people to dangerous levels of heat. Drought is causing some of the lowest water levels ever seen for reservoirs along the Colorado River, threatening the drinking water of 40 million people. Puerto Ricans are being forced to ration water because of extreme drought. In Europe, some of the continent’s dryest conditions have caused major rivers to run so low that ships are running aground, nuclear power plants are shutting down, and historical artifacts that were previously submerged are being revealed. South Korea is in the midst of a record heat wave — with temperatures reaching 108.5° Fahrenheit, the highest temperature in the country’s history. China, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan are all experiencing torrential rain and flooding.
As a result of rising heat levels, we are seeing massive wildfires across the world, including Oregon’s worst wildfire season and fires in Washington state that have forced nearly 65,000 families to evacuate. Europe, France and Spain are experiencing destructive wildfire seasons that have forced more than 330,000 people to evacuate their homes. Portugal, Greece, Italy, Albania, Turkey, Canada, Morocco and Algeria are also experiencing destructive wildfire seasons.
This summer alone,Alaska, Louisiana, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and West Virginia have all seen record rainfall events. We’ve seen 1,000-year floods in Texas, Missouri and New York. Once rare, dangerous flash flooding emergencies are now a regular part of summer for tens of millions of Americans.
One might think that, in the midst of all of this, there would be major discussions in Congress as to how best to go forward in addressing this existential crisis. Not the case. Insanely, the president of the United States continues to believe that climate change is a “hoax,” and Republican members of Congress are following their “Great Leader” over the cliff. Sadly, too many Democrats think that speaking out on climate change is “bad politics” and have remained far too silent.
That has got to change. The simple truth is that we must forcefully take on the greed of the fossil fuel industry and the stupidity of Trump.
The simple truth is that we can create millions of good-paying union jobs transforming our energy systems away from fossil fuels and into energy efficiency and sustainable energy.
For the sake of our kids, future generations and the habitability of the planet, that is exactly what we must do.

Useless, I know, but just imagine a Dem President being like "Everything about these red necks in WV and Kentucky is gross. Smells like disgusting coal. They're all cracked out on fentanyl and are missing teeth. Everything about those places is dirty. It's really all of them."

What a nightmare. By implementing the tariffs illegally, and now having to unwind them, the Trump administration created over $100 billion of profit for corporations selling foreign products, at the expense of American consumers.

This answer from Trump about the Cyclospora outbreak that has now expanded to 9 states should lead every newscast:
Q: When is it going to be safe to eat lettuce again?
Trump: I don't know. I haven't thought about it.
Q: When is it going to be safe to eat lettuce again?
Trump: I don't know. I haven't thought about it. There's this, there's this food coming in, I guess. From Mexico. I think what we're gonna do is we're gonna put a major tariff on Mexico because of the lettuce, and we're gonna put a big tariff on Canada because of the smoke.

We are supposedly at war to stop Iran from enriching the uranium we “obliterated” over a year ago.
Yesterday we signed a deal to help Saudi Arabia enrich uranium.
The first time the United States has ever helped another country enrich uranium on foreign soil.
The Saudis refused the inspection protocol 140 other countries accept. Too intrusive, they said.
Trump agreed. He signed a national security waiver to get around the rule.
The Saudis paid Kushner $100 million. They put $2 billion into his firm. They put another $6 billion into LIV Golf, which pays Trump properties to host its tournaments. They signed ten billion dollars in Trump-branded real estate deals in Jeddah and Riyadh. All in just the last few years.
But sure. My paintings.

A doctor will repeatedly bring up patient safety issues to hospital leadership and be ignored.
Yet if a discharge summary is 12 hours late, the full force of administration will be unleashed on that delinquent doctor.
Administration’s asymmetric priorities are striking.

Congress is not serious.
We are voting on a stock trading ban for members of Congress…
BUT Republicans added voter-ID in the legislation.
Not to get Dems to vote for voter-ID,
but to get them to vote against the stock trading ban, so they can use it in the Nov. election.
