Today is an opportunity to assess more than a referendum question.
Look honestly at the state of Canada.
Can families afford to live?
Are our streets safe?
Can people access timely healthcare?
Are our schools preparing young people for the future?
Do public services actually serve the public?
Are governments transparent, competent and accountable?
Do citizens feel heard or managed, dismissed and blamed?
Whatever your position, consider the results, not merely the promises.
Ask whether the current system is delivering the safe, prosperous and functional country Canadians deserve.
Then get informed, vote and make your own decision.

What does a referendum on provincial independence actually do?
A referendum gives citizens the opportunity to provide democratic direction on an important public question.
It does not automatically amend the Constitution or create independence.
In the Reference re Secession of Quebec, the Supreme Court said that a clear majority on a clear question in favour of secession creates an obligation to negotiate—not guarantee a particular outcome.
That is why citizens deserve facts not fear, and serious answers not insults.
Whatever your position, understand the process, ask questions and make your own decision.

Can a province vote to leave Canada?
In the 1998 Reference re Quebec Secession, the Supreme Court said that a referendum does not, by itself, make a province independent.
But a clear majority voting on a clear question for secession creates a constitutional duty to negotiate.
Negotiations must respect democracy, federalism, the rule of law and minority rights. No outcome is guaranteed.
Why does this matter? Because constitutional change has a place in Canada’s legal framework. Understanding that process helps us discuss it with facts rather than fear
Whatever your position, know the principles behind the debate.

“It reinforced a lot of things I already understood, but it also made me look at some of them differently.”
This reader feedback captures what we hope Reconnect to Canada will do: deepen understanding of our rights and governing institutions, and encourage questions.
Public trust starts with accountability.
When governments cause harm, citizens deserve acknowledgment, answers and meaningful consequences.
Claiming to serve the public interest means being willing to answer to the public, including when the questions are uncomfortable.
Citizens who question government are exercising their role in a democracy. Dismissing them does nothing to repair trust.
Trust is earned through honesty, transparency and action. It cannot be demanded from citizens while those in power avoid responsibility.
