If you haven't read Alex Hayley's brilliant biography of Malcom X, you can see his story on YouTube. And then you can read that book, because it really is a great book about #racism that every white person should read.

Just having yet another conversation about how come the Government is giving animal farmers $720 million (a quarter of the ETS fund) when they contribute nothing to it and are our worst polluters. The plunderers reap the rewards yet again!
Wow! Check out this amazing poem by Sam Mahon about what's happening to our rivers throughout Aotearoa New Zealand, but particularly in Canterbury.

Thanks @geoffreidnz for the heads-up and Sam for being awesome!
'Unless it is accepted that #NewZealand has two founding cultures, not one; unless #Māori culture and identity are valued in everything government says and does; and unless they are welcomed into the very centre of the way we do things in this country, nothing will change. >>>
The level of entitlement Kiwis seem to feel about the acceptability of trashing the #environment is unbelievable. What's wrong with us? It's like a sickness that pervades #NewZealand. bit.ly/3yGKiBJ
I said by-product here, but they’re actually industrial waste. They’re worth nothing and discarded as a #waste product.
Blind in one eye, Kiwis are incapable of considering we could possibly grow anything other than a cow. Where’s the government #ERP investmest in alt milk, precision fermentation and cultured meat? Instead we give $720 million to the country’s environmental hooligans. Fail!

I would definitely like to see support for our fledgling NZ oat milk industry as well as other forward looking low carbon agri products.
After years of kicking the can down the road, delays, fudging, avoiding and backtracking, there’s more *checks notes* kicking the can down the road, delays, fudging, avoiding and backtracking. This is not the mark of a Goverment in a #climateemergency. stuff.co.nz/national/politic…
Warning! This is a horrendous video about the #dairy industry. But if you drink milk, you need to see it. Because when you drink milk, you're complicity in this ruthless industry.
Switch to #plantbased milk and relieve your conscience in one easy step.

How come Te Pāti Māori get it, but NZ Greens don’t? Could it be that tangata whenua are greener than the whiteys, who’ve only been dipped in green? The #Greens should be outpacing everyone, not acting like John Key’s ‘fast follower’ #climate laggards!

We have consistently called for funding to support the transition to regenerative agriculture. But we don't need a new research centre, we know what works - price methane immediately, phase out nitrogen fertilisers, cut herd sizes. Let's get on with it.

What's Green and Red and stinks of cow 💩? Aotearoa New Zealand's Emissions Reduction Plan. Animal agriculture makes up 43% of total NZ emissions with #dairy at 22% of NZ emissions. Rather than downsizing the herd, THEY'RE GIVING THEM THREE QUARTERS OF A BILLION DOLLARS! >>>
Well, it's been a terrible day for New Zealand and our integrity on the world stage. But this made me laugh, even if it might start a nuclear war 🤣
And to clarify just a little bit further, while 11,000 dairy farmers make 25% of total emissions, in addition to all the other pollution they create, the other 4,989,000 of us create less than that in everything we do. Yet we're about to pay $720 million to our biggest polluters.
I guess I should really clarify. Those 22.5% of emissions create by 11,000 dairy farmer don't include drying milk (1.4% of total emissions) and dairy tankers (0.6% of total emissions) bringing #dairy's contribution to 24.5% (call it 25%) of total emissions for the country.
