I’ve never seen a league legit want a player to fail like this. Hit piece after hit piece. They are going to cover this in documentaries for years to come.
Notes on the Fever and their reputation within the WNBA, per @anniecostabile, @_Brian_Hamilton:
- An agent said clients regularly disable social media accounts before and after games against Indiana due to increase in toxic messages they say they received
- A different agent said clients have reported being called the N-word at Fever games "multiple times"; Fever say they have received no complaints about racial slurs from fans at home games
- Amber Cox plans to reach out to WNBA, WNBPA after Finals to tackle issue of player-fan dynamics

Kaitlin Chen was called slurs from the ATL stadium but nothing is done because the fan base isn’t large enough to get social media or media traction. Yet the Fever org had to investigate false “monkey” noises because the fan base and haters were loud enough.

Found the aftermath video & this is such trashy behavior by the Aces. Apparently that’s Gabby’s sister too, with BUTTERED POPCORN still in her hair.
Calling it a “bit” doesn’t make it any less disgusting. Imagine the layers of discourse if this happened at Gainbridge…

You have to believe in and WANT to coach Caitlin. You have to believe in and WANT to build the right team around her. Thats public enemy number 1 in the ecosystem you have to be someone who wants it and is all in.

Caitlin Clark has spoken out against racism, bigotry and other forms of hatred numerous times, yet it’s never enough.
When she speaks, people either pretend they don’t hear it or pick through Every. Single. Word. to say, “Well, actually …”
Well, actually what?!

My two cents: It’s disingenuous for folks to keep saying Caitlin Clark hasn’t “done enough” to denounce racism/hatred.
If you’re just hellbent on viewing her through the lens of her worst “supporters” — who are really grifters — then *you* need to look in the mirror. Not her.
#Fever star Caitlin Clark in response to Kelsey Mitchell’s comments:
“It makes you upset because you care about your teammates so much …”
“As far as people that have used me to demonstrate racist rhetoric or hate or discrimination, that’s not something I stand for. …”
