To say the very least on this, the congressman is incorrect on the law. Two-party consent is relevant only to private oral conversations, and he has zero expectation of privacy here. 1st Amendment gives you the right to record public officials in public places as long as you're not interfering with their official duties.
Republican Rep. Andy Harris incorrectly told a reporter they were breaking the law as the reporter and others recorded an exchange with him last night. Harris had just wrapped up a debate with Democratic challenger Dan Schwartz.

Kimberly Guilfoyle was preparing for her congressional hearing to become U.S. ambassador to Greece when she reached out to a Trump donor with an urgent request: She needed $100,000 that she said she owed American Express—in a way that wouldn’t leave a paper trail. “It won’t show up anywhere if you wire money to American Express,” she wrote on Signal, according to messages reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. “Please.” w/@DanaMattioli @drewhinshaw @JoeWSJ wsj.com/politics/policy/guil…

Trump was unaware that James Blair & Chris LaCivita had traveled to the Balkans – or that the pro-Russian government was among their clientele – until he was briefed on the impending NYT piece, sources familiar with the situation told CNN. He then made a series of phone calls Tuesday night asking his allies what their take on the story was, the sources said One source said Trump appeared annoyed, and another veteran Republican who spoke with the president told CNN that Trump was “pissed” by the report – particularly at the revelation that the two advisers had been abroad in the home stretch of the midterm campaign, profiting off their association with him More w/ @KristenhCNN @DanaBashCNN cnn.com/2026/10/07/politics/…

This is big news for the WNBA. I can confirm that the NBA has hired the executive search arm of Caitlin Clark’s agency to find the next WNBA commissioner. Perhaps the ridiculous minimization of Clark’s impact, led by Cathy Engelbert, is coming to an end. hoopshype.com/story/sports/n…

Very unserious league.
Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson will not face league repercussions for confronting a fan in Game 2 of the WNBA first-round playoff series. Wilson will be available for a decisive Game 3 against the Indiana Fever on Thursday: nyti.ms/4yAP3Jl

Caitlin Clark’s first half against the Las Vegas Aces marked the first time in postseason history a player has recorded 10+ PTS and 10+ AST in a half. Clark also set the WNBA postseason record for most assists (11) in a half.

I recently spent some time at Turning Point’s Arizona HQ, where they’re soldiering on without Charlie Kirk, mobilizing for the midterms and already plotting how to get JD Vance to run and win in 2028. Here’s a deep look at how they’re growing — and the challenges they face:

A fist to the throat. A suspension that is way too lenient. My @usatodaysports column on what Alyssa Thomas and other WNBA players have done to Caitlin Clark, the most famous, marketable and important women’s pro team sport athlete in history. usatoday.com/story/sports/wn…

What a photo this is. Alyssa Thomas delivers a fist to the throat of Caitlin Clark. No foul was called. Will the WNBA continue to ignore the way its most marketable, popular and important player is hit and fouled by other players? Or will it finally act — and suspend Thomas?
