Hi everyone! (which is no one right now.) This is intended to be a professional/public account where I focus mostly on math.
I would really like to have been in the meeting where they decided everyone's research.gov password HAS to have a special character but ONLY from a list of 6 of them

Shaking your head as you enter your course grades into the system so everyone knows you disagree with student assessment on principle.
Using "a" and "α" for two different points (say, one is the center of a disc and another is a point in the disc) in a proof:
19%Good idea
0%Whatever

Have you ever thought about starting an open access mathematics journal? If so, you may be interested in a project that has just been announced to provide such journals with startup funds of up to $10,000, as well as advice from experienced people.

Microsoft Outlook will not let you archive your whole inbox. You can delete it, and you can set up rules to archive certain messages, but you can’t just archive the whole thing. Why would you do this?!?!
Today I reached Inbox Zero the old-fashioned way: manually scrolling and selecting 50 messages at a time to archive
I do not like when complex analysis books use “analytic” to mean “complex differentiable”. It is a theorem that these are the same, which means they should have different names!

The world would probably be a better place if Elsevier, Springer, etc. weren’t making bank, but the problem isn’t that they don’t *pay authors*. It’s almost as if academics are being compensated in some other way for their work.
My daughter has been babbling "bab-bab-bab-bab" all week while I've been drawing diagrams like this. Is she already learning tensor categories?
The issue is that some citation styles are so complicated that getting them right is equivalent to the halting problem: you need an oracle to format your bibliography correctly and Zotero doesn’t implement one
There’s a mechanism for replacing display rules and also one for composing them, but there isn’t a clear description of the function syntax anywhere in the tutorial??? So I don’t know how to compose “link” and “blue”

Since then I have spent half an hour unsuccessfully trying to add a rule to turn links blue in my document
