🇷🇴🚫The bill on censorship in Romania, supported by the USAID 🇪🇺 and Soros funded NGOs is going to be implemented in the entire 🇪🇺, as it's based upon the DSA.
Pictured below you can see some of the content deemed illegal through this bill:
Essentially, anything can be labeled as fake news or disinformation and will be removed.
Debates online on fiery topics will be censored, because it's deemed as "artificial conflict".
And absolutely no criticism against the fact checker NGOs or the national authorities will be tolerated.
Now, let's look at some of the legal issues within the bill:
Vague Definitions (Art. 3, 4): Broad, unclear terms like "illegal content" (e.g., "hate speech," "manipulation") and "inauthentic behavior" lack precise criteria, risking arbitrary enforcement.
Procedural Gaps (Art. 5-7, 10): Immediate content blocking in "urgent" cases (undefined) and vague inter-agency roles lack safeguards or clear processes, enabling abuse.
Rights Violations:
Freedom of Expression (Art. 30): Content removal without judicial oversight (Art. 6, 10) violates anti-censorship rules.
Right to Information (Art. 31): Blocking access (Art. 10) limits public info without transparency.
Fair Trial (Art. 21): Non-suspendable decisions (Art. 9(2)) and tight contestation deadlines restrict recourse.
Disproportionate Measures: Harsh penalties for social media platforms and providers (Art. 14, 50,000-100,000 RON/day) and domain blocking (Art. 10) exceed necessity, lacking evidence of milder alternatives’ inadequacy.
Censorship Risks: ANCOM’s extensive powers (Art. 5, 6, 10), short compliance deadlines (Art. 13), and no public oversight (Art. 16) could centralize control and suppress dissent.
Meanwhile, the crazy leftist party, USR, initiated today an even more harrowing bill on online censorship:

🇺🇦🇷🇴BREAKING: USAID FUNDED NGO ACCUSED OF MEDDLING IN ROMANIA’S ELECTIONS
A Ukrainian state-funded group called TEXTY, which also gets money from USAID, allegedly published multiple articles pushing to cancel Romania’s elections.
The NGO has also labeled Trump’s administration as “Russian propagandists” and created a list of U.S. conservative politicians and journalists, calling them “Kremlin agents."
With foreign-funded groups influencing elections and politics, many are asking:

As well as smear pieces against Calin Georgescu and his supporters.
Interestingly, they're also calling the Trump Administration "Russian propagandists".
This NGO has published a real hit-list of conservative American politicians, journalists and activists i2024 - labeling all of them "Kremlin agents" just because they want peace in Ukraine.
Is this not foreign interference?
