That cloud is the Crab Nebula, left by a star Chinese astronomers watched explode in 1054.
The guest star was bright enough to see in daylight and stayed visible to the naked eye for about two years.
Its remains hold a neutron star spinning 30.2 times a second.
It wasn't the first supernova they logged, though: SN 185 is in the Book of Later Han.
I love that court record keepers handed astronomers a pulsar's birth date.

🇺🇸 Melania announces $7.2M scholarship fund for LSU students from foster care!
The funding, part of her Fostering the Future initiative, comes from private donors, including a $5M commitment from MMR Group.
The scholarships will help students cover college costs and build independent futures, expanding a program already active at more than 20 schools.
The announcement landed the same day she attended the LSU-Alabama game at Tiger Stadium.
