Here's our first look at Machado in Venezuela. Some US voters, mainly Venezuelans and Cubans in Florida, criticize Trump and Rubio's alliance with the autocratic government in Caracas. They hope Machado will push democracy. Trump aides intervened to stop her return earlier.

From the @semafor media newsletter: After New York Times journalist Katie Rosman broke a story raising questions about Amy Griffin’s book, Griffin tried leaning on a university higher-up to block Rosman’s kid from getting into the school.

An incredible showing by Lula tonight. He proved every pollster and doubter wrong. And this is an important point: The margin of victory is so big that the controversy over the polling hours becomes far less relevant. He would’ve won if they closed an hour early.
Lula wins, and it wasn’t particularly close — 3.5% or more than 4 million votes. It’s an epic comeback and we will need time to fully understand it. But one thing is clear — the extension in voting hours was not the difference maker in this race.

NEW from @nytimes: Trump says Venezuela isn't ready for elections and focuses on its oil, but Rubio has pushed talks between combatant politicians. We went to Caracas to get a look — and to gauge whether the US is actually prodding the authoritarian rulers toward democracy.

This time the Bay of Pigs will succeed.
To those who seek to create positive change in Cuba - now is the time. The disappointment of failed promises, corruption, and the privileged lives of only a few; seize this opportunity to create the change you desire through a discrete partnership with the CIA.
