Here are a few of Martin Luther's 95 theses that we completely agree with:
21: [T]hose indulgence preachers are in error who say that a man is absolved from every penalty and saved by papal indulgences.
35: They who teach that contrition is not necessary on the part of those who intend to buy souls out of purgatory or to buy confessional privileges preach unchristian doctrine.
52. It is vain to trust in salvation by indulgence letters, even though the indulgence commissary, or even the pope, were to offer his soul as security.
53. They are the enemies of Christ and the pope who forbid altogether the preaching of the Word of God in some churches in order that indulgences may be preached in others.
71. Let him who speaks against the truth concerning papal indulgences be anathema and accursed.
91. If, therefore, indulgences were preached according to the spirit and intention of the pope, all these doubts would be readily resolved. Indeed, they would not exist.
It is certainly true that Luther wrote these when he was still a "papist." Would he have repudiated those last couple later on? Probably. We're not trying to pull a "gotcha" on modern-day Protestants here.
But it's still worth pointing out that in these theses, he recognized contemporary problems in the Catholic Church—and the solution—with clarity. Indulgences themselves were never the problem; corrupt behaviors surrounding them and teaching about them against "the spirit and intention of the pope" were.
> Pope Leo says something that is entirely true and perfectly consistent with historical Christian teaching.
> Stupid American Evangelicals who can't even read or comprehend what the Pope is saying call him the Antichrist and accuse him of being demonic. 🤦🏻
Faith can be embodied in all cultures, because it does not identify itself with any of them in a specific one. It dwells within them, shaping them from within according to the “form” of Jesus Christ; that is, through charity, service and the filial recognition of God’s fatherhood. In this way, the Church draws from the various cultures all that is good, beautiful and true, in order to embody and transmit the message of the Gospel. #GeneralAudience

>1865, Saint John Bosco has a dream where a horned black figure entertained young people with a “magic lantern”
>It shows them games, distant places, money, vacations & sinful scenes
>They become addicted to it & drift away from the sacraments, especially Holy Communion
Saint Don Bosco was warning us about smartphones
