Hypervisors can't see the memory content of confidential (AMD SEV) VMs. This undermines memory forensics and its rootkit detection. @fa_schwarz will present 00SEVen at #usesec24, which re-enables forensics in confidential VMs *without* revealing memory to the cloud provider. 1/x

The scientific success of @RAID_Conference 2023 was only possible due to the huge amount of work put in by the reviewers. Yousra and I are extremely proud to have had such a passionate team of reviewers. We received very positive feedback from several authors on the reviews. 1/3

Modern #DNS operators use Anycast to improve query performance and to shield against #DDoS attacks. @CISPA researcher Jonas Bushart will present @IEEEEuroSP that even Anycast DNS infrastructures of large TLD operators can be susceptible to application-layer #DDoS attacks. 1/2

Still trying to bend network #firewalls to enforce application-specific policies using _unreliable_ IPs or ports? Check out our new poster on SENG: our solution for secure per-application policies using trusted hardware (e.g., #IntelSGX), published at @USENIXSecurity'20.

SENG wraps each trusted app into a HW-protected container to: 1. assign them HW-verified IDs 2. securely tunnel their traffic to the gateway The gateway assigns each app an IP from an app-specific subnetwork. Firewalls can then directly enforce app-specific network policies.

Sounds interesting? Have a look at our (@chrossow) USENIX 2020 paper, presentation, and prototype implementations: usenix.org/conference/usenix… github.com/sengsgx
Excited to join tomorrow's Airbus & CISPA Day. Why? This summer, @Airbus and @CISPA have established a cooperation to form a new center for innovative cybersecurity and AI projects. Looking forward to their development. cispa.de/en/cispa-airbus airbus.com/en/newsroom/press…

We all rely on network #routers for our daily communication and network protection. But do you know that our versatile helpers are under serious attack? Four weeks ago at @RAID_Conference, we have presented TrustedGateway---a new generation of routers with a protected core. 🧵

TrustedGateway (TruGW) protects traffic routing and filtering even if all utility and OS services become compromised. TruGW uses #ARM #TrustZone to isolate the network path, including the NIC hardware and routing and firewall, from the remaining services. Attackers are sandboxed.

4 eventful weeks have ended. Had the pleasure to attend not one but TWO amazing security conferences. We presented TrustedGateway at @RAID_Conference and FeIDo at @ACM_CCS. Met many interesting people in Cyprus & LA. Thanks to @CISPA and the community for making this possible. 🧵
