We're building Fairmint with a clear vision: bringing recordkeeping and liquidity on the same rail. Onchain. Great to have everyone together in New York this week 🗽

When someone says they own a "tokenized stock", what do they actually own? A token giving them rights to shares held by a custodian? Or shares recorded on the company's official register? Both get called tokenized stocks, but the rights you get can be very different.

Your cap table says an investor owns 10,000 shares. Your shareholder register says 9,500. Now someone has to figure out where those 500 shares went before the next financing or share transfer.

Imagine two systems showing different owners for the same shares. Both have a transaction history. Both look up to date. Which one actually determines who owns the shares? That's a legal and market-infrastructure question, not just a data-sync problem.

stocks, but with ownership.
what assets should we tokenize next?

Putting shares onchain and recording share ownership onchain aren't necessarily the same thing. At Fairmint, we're building infrastructure around the authoritative shareholder register, where ownership is officially recorded. We're an SEC-registered transfer agent.

A lot of attention on where tokenized stocks will trade we spend our time on how those trades connect back to the company and its shareholders. Bringing transfer agency onchain is how we're building that connection 🤝
THE BLOCK: SEC lists three firms that have filed notices to operate tokenized securities venues under its Innovation Exemption: TSV LLC, OKXICE TSV, and Perpetuals[dot]com (Kephas Corporation). "Inclusion on the list does not mean that the person meets the definition of 'Tokenized Securities Venue' under the Innovation Exemption Order, nor does it mean that the person has established that it meets the conditions of the TSV Exemption," the SEC noted.

An employee exercises 5,000 stock options. Does that mean they now own 5,000 shares? Not quite. The company still needs to issue the shares and update its ownership records. Exercising options is one step. Making sure the shares are properly issued and recorded is another.

Tokenized equities are growing faster than the infrastructure behind them. 360+ products, different models, fragmented systems, and no common way to manage ownership across them. This market needs plumbing that can actually scale. That's what we're building at Fairmint.
Tokenization is accelerating. There are now over 360 onchain tokenized equity products, up +200% YTD. 10 of these products have exceeded $100 million in tokenized supply. As we saw this weekend, demand for 24/7 access to equities is rapidly expanding. In fact, the majority of volume in these tokenized products, at ~60%, is currently taking place outside of regular market hours. Today, onchain giant Jupiter, a leader in this space, reported a +215% quarter-over-quarter jump in tokenized equity trade count. We expect more record highs ahead in this space.

Guys, @fairmint gets it. Customers have preferences, and issuers are customers too. Tokenize the WORLD 🔥
Replying to @RayBuckton
yeah better to ask issuers what they actually need than spend months trying to sell them something they never asked for…

“A token is not equity. But equity can be a token.” That distinction changes everything about tokenized stocks. Our CEO @Joris_DLN on why the official shareholder register matters, from yesterday’s webinar with @CantonStrategic 👇

Tokenizing a stock is one thing. Making sure the transfer actually updates who owns the shares is another. Fairmint CEO @Joris_DLN explains why the ownership record matters in his latest TabbFORUM op-ed 👇 tabbforum.com/opinions/token…

we talk a lot about trading stocks onchain but being able to borrow against them is another reason to get the ownership infrastructure right. What you can do with your shares matters too 🤝
In five years, underwriting a loan against assets you already hold, like a $50,000 stock position, could cost close to $0, making collateral lending beyond mortgages and car loans finally viable. @YuvalRooz discusses with @_TalkingTokens.

If issuers keep saying no, it's worth asking who you're building for they should be the primary customer from day one. Earning their trust takes time but that's the moat 🤝
Maybe an unpopular opinion but seeing companies pushing back on tokenized versions of their stock could be a good thing. If the issuer isn't on board, teams pitching it should be asking themselves why. Is it educational? Technical? Both? Then take note of the ones that are actually adopting it and again, why. The tokenize equities and platforms that will win will be the ones companies actually sign off on and can understand easily.

Sounds familiar 😉 I've been saying for years that tokenization will become a commodity. More assets onchain, lower fees per asset. What matters is what people can actually do with them.
Pete Christiansen explains why @Citi downgraded Securitize to neutral: “We do believe that tokenization is going to proliferate among equities, bonds, what have you, but how much are they gonna get paid for it is a big question.”

You can put a list of shareholders on a blockchain tomorrow. Does that make it the company's official ownership record? Nope. The issuer still needs to recognize it, and the legal framework needs to support it. That's the part of tokenization we should be talking about more.

Three institutions. Three records. Same shares. Your broker tracks your holdings. Your custodian tracks the shares it holds. The issuer tracks registered shareholders. But owning shares through a broker doesn't mean your name appears on the issuer's register. Big difference.
