Honored to be co-facilitating this workshop with Yi Zhang this Friday, October 1 at 5:30pm PT. Please join us! It will be an opportunity to make art (no skills necessary) while meeting other great changemakers. buff.ly/2WqNEbB
Many thanks to @aydin for the great conversation about building collaboration muscles and mindsets on @fellowapp's #Supermanager podcast! buff.ly/3vyUTtv

Facilitators way overestimate their ability to "read the room." In a way, pandemic times have been helpful for this (although people may not realize it). Because they can't do this on a video conference, facilitators are looking for other (hopefully better) ways to get feedback.
Cool finding that answers two questions: How do people read a room? And why do crowd emotions get amplified? The answer: people focus on the most emotional faces, which leads them to overestimate the crowd's emotions & react more emotionally themselves! osf.io/cn6qy/

Super kind. Turns out @DavidDaly44 has blogged about his yearly reflection process too, which I found to be smart, instructive, and well worth reading. daviddaly.me/2020/01/my-year…

Video is overrated when it comes to real-time collaboration. Sharing your screen is far more valuable.

I have 5 invites in my inbox to "co-create the future”. I’ve architected, negotiated, led a lot of co-creation work. True co-creation. With stakeholders from diverse backgrounds (regionally, economically, politically, culturally) + some that hate each other. What I've learned:

"The root of the problem is lack of clarity and alignment around what success looks like."
It's easier to have "more" as a goal than it is to specify "how much." But it's not just terrible strategically, it can have harmful consequences to your team. buff.ly/30GOI9b #strategy #equity #collaboration #leadership #systemschange

"All of the racial equity training in the world won’t make a lick of difference if you don’t have the mechanisms and the right mindsets in place to get clear & aligned about success, to adjust based on what you’re learning, & to hold yourselves accountable to your stated values."
From my latest blog post on George Floyd and this moment: “Human beings love simple, emotional narratives. Once we allow ourselves to be moved, we also have to be willing to dive into the messy and far less compelling nuts and bolts of the work.” buff.ly/2ZomO0Y
