Where is the mass market wearable that’s essentially invisible? so many places on the body to put a tiny sensor. Why are we still strapping watches and bands to our wrists?

This is the way. I've seen brands take down 3k doors, move ~2 units a week per store, and lose every account at the reset. Only take the doors you can actually service. Spiff the clerks and get to know them, run demos, incentivize your field reps, pay for better placement if you have to, and get signage up. The goal is working each store up to 7 units a week, 1 a day. That's the baseline that keeps you on the shelf. The hack that's worked best for us: start with local chains where one owner controls 20 to 70 stores. You get real scale with one relationship and can execute all of the above properly.

energy is now systemic, not sectoral. fragility per unit of disruption is much higher, even if raw energy intensity per dollar is lower

There is a curious consumer trend I refer to as the “Blue Bottleification” of goods, a concept originating from ZERP. It describes a class of products and services that are functionally unremarkable yet presented with carefully curated minimalism. This aesthetic polish, seen in self-check-in hotels, Sugarfish, Blue Bottle Coffee, Parachute, etc. creates an illusion of quality and distinction. Despite their standardized, chain-like nature and inflated prices, these offerings are embraced by nouveau riche consumers who equate design sensibility with inherent value.
