He couldn’t get enough of it, of her. His salvation. That’s what she was. He might be a monster, might be a worthless, soulless demon, but here, in his arms—here was his salvation. His lone chance at joy. From the flush in her cheeks, the feverish gleam in her eyes, he knew she felt the same.
we’re not even discussing the books anymore because the discourse has become something else entirely. it’s in the undertones, in the way people justify certain traditions and cultural norms in fantasy, that you start recognizing the conservative beliefs they bring into their interpretations. sometimes the misogyny isn’t even in how they talk about the female characters, but in what they believe those women owe men.
the cognitive dissonance of calling lucien reasonable for wanting to pursue his mate while calling azriel “sick and gross” for doing essentially the same thing needs studied. the math is not mathing.
the way red pill rhetoric has seeped into fandom discourse is genuinely concerning. replace “the mating bond” with “marriage” and you get the exact same argument: a man’s feelings, needs and investment in a relationship supposedly entitle him to a woman’s time and consideration, regardless of what she wants. we’re doomed.
just read that lucien has a right to get to know elain because they’re mates, as if elain’s complete disregard for him doesn’t matter.
the character is bad enough, but his fans are even worse. and the shocking part is that they’re WOMEN. women out here arguing that another woman should put her own feelings aside and stay with a man because of biology.
if feysand are velaris’ trump and melania, then what does that make nesta? because i have a few guesses and nicki minaj is the nicest one

Elriel's were right saying that the necklace thing didn't matter cuz the necklace was and is for Elain, Elriel's were right saying that the subtitle of the book was based on the Wagner Opera and not on the characters of the books, Elriel's had been right about the endgames and couples since the beginning. That's what happened when you based your theories and ships on canon info and not delusions and fantasies.
and that’s exactly the feeling of having a crush that sjm talked about. you act silly, you daydream, you make plans for a future that isn’t even certain, and you don’t think about the consequences even when you know they’re there.
it’s a romantasy book, but seeing all of this so beautifully portrayed from a man’s perspective is just something else. i can’t help but giggle every single time azriel mentions elain
i love how azriel is so pathetically in love with elain and i don’t care if some people see it as a negative thing because when you finally find love after longing for it for so long, being pathetic and completely whipped for your person is all that’s left

bringing this back cuz i truly love all of you, but maybe… MAYBE y’all should just enjoy elriel more and let the antis cry about it. their words will never be louder than the books. we were right all this time, and that should be more than enough reason to just laugh at their dumb asses and go on with your lives!
