De OV sector in ons land wordt voor een groot deel ingevuld door medewerkers met kennelijk het laagste arbeidsethos in onze samenleving.
Staken is belangrijker dan hun corebusiness: de reiziger van dienst zijn.
Staken om alles.
Ik zou er zo langzamerhand voorstander van zijn om dit gelazer aan banden te leggen. Het ontregelen van de samenleving gebeurt te vaak.

Sommige mensen lijken te denken dat je in de eerste maanden van een (pandemie)crisis op automagische wijze over alle informatie beschikt, ruim de tijd hebt om met elke denkbare partij rond de tafel te zitten en misschien zelfs een volksreferendum kunt organiseren, om vervolgens, twee jaar later, in actie te schieten. Zo werkt het dus helemaal niet.
Je beschikt in het begin van een crisis misschien over tien procent van de relevante informatie. De dodencurve stijgt elke dag. Overal heersen onzekerheid en paniek. En toch moet er worden beslist en gehandeld.
Op datzelfde moment besef je maar al te goed dat, zodra de crisis zo goed als voorbij is en alle informatie beschikbaar is, de stuurlui aan wal zullen opduiken en beginnen met kritiek te leveren met de premisse dat zij het uiteraard allemaal veel beter zouden hebben kunnen aanpakken. En dan zullen ze vragen: “Wat hebben jullie fout gedaan? Waarvan hebben jullie spijt? Waarvoor willen jullie zich excuseren?”
Ik zucht dan eens en troost mij met de gedachte dat diezelfde zijlijngeneraals bij een volgende crisis opnieuw veilig aan wal zullen blijven, en dus ten minste niet in de weg zullen lopen.

Jared’s fund seeded with $2 billion from the Saudi crown prince, now $6.2 billion, 99% of it foreign money from Gulf governments. Over $110 million in fees collected from the Saudis alone. He negotiates American foreign policy with the governments that pay him.
$2.3 billion from crypto ventures their father regulates. More than a million people bought in and lost $2.3 billion. The money didn’t grow. It simply moved from the subjects pockets to the crown’s coffers.

Me? They searched a laptop for six years. Federal prosecutors. Grand juries. Subpoena power. Congressional hearings. They found nothing. I made about $200k a year selling paintings when my Dad was President, and they made my paintings part of an impeachment inquiry.
For six years they’ve asked Where’s Hunter? What about the laptop?
Wrong questions. The right one is 250 years old. Does America belong to a family?

Today I'd like to talk about Russia's most successful export:
"Peace."
It is probably the most powerful propaganda word in the post-Soviet world.
Say anything critical of Russia and you'll immediately hear:
"Don't you want peace? Do you want war?"
The message is simple:
"If you want peace, submit. If you resist, we'll destroy you."
Russia attacks a neighbour. When the neighbour fights back, Russia says:
"Why don't you want peace?"
Ukraine hears it every day.
Georgia heard it.
Moldova hears it.
The same message is sold to the West. Russian apologists argue that anyone resisting Russia is "prolonging the war" because they refuse to accept "peace."
But here's the trick.
They've corrupted the meaning of the word.
Peace is not humanity's highest value.
Freedom is.
Peace without freedom is submission.
Peace without sovereignty is occupation.
Peace without dignity is slavery.
History shows that free people are willing to sacrifice peace to preserve their freedom.
And in the long run, they usually win.
