Crypto security rests on one quiet assumption. The math behind it is too hard to break.
That holds until someone finds a better way to solve it. Quantum computing and AI driven math are two things people keep pointing to. I don't know when, or if, either one will cause a real problem. Nobody does.
So for me, the ability to change matters more than any prediction.
This is what made @Starknet click for me. Its proofs are hash based STARKs, so they depend on hash functions, not the elliptic curve math that usually secures signatures. Its accounts are programmable, so a new signature method can be added without a network wide upgrade.
Part of Starknet still depends on Ethereum's upgrade timeline, which adds another piece to plan around.
