Coach Beam didn’t just coach football — he changed lives.
He saw potential in people before they saw it in themselves, and he pushed generations to rise above every challenge.
His legacy lives in every life he lifted. Fly high, Coach.

This 2 minutes from Ryan Day perfectly shows why he now holds the record for win percentage.
He said this team has accomplished nothing yet and if they forget it, someone will catch them:
The deepest roots of American professional soccer are right here in the Town
Honoring an Oakland Soccer Legend. 🌳
History came full circle as Oakland Clippers legend Derek Liecty visited our HQ ahead of our record-breaking home opener at the Oakland Coliseum.
The Oakland Clippers were trailblazers in American soccer, bringing championship glory to The Town in 1967. Their legacy laid the foundation for what we continue to build today—a club rooted in Oakland’s history, resilience, and passion for the game.
As we prepare to bring pro soccer back to the Coliseum on March 22, it’s an honor to celebrate the pioneers who paved the way. From the Clippers to the Roots, Oakland’s soccer legacy lives on.

Every day I write about the importance of players creating mental framework for their game in order to compete in their High Performance Mindset.
And I get asked all the time, by both players and coaches “What do these frameworks look like? What’s actually in them?”
Below is a clip from my conversation with Glenn Crooks of SiriusFM. And in this clip, I’m detailing a couple of mental techniques I might use with players to help them establish their mental playbook.
During the clip I talk briefly about the work I did around 18 years ago with the West Ham striker Carlton Cole. Carlton very generously wanted me to write about the work we did together in my first book Soccer Tough (a book that Gareth Bale kindly said changed his life).
So listen below…
There was obviously far more to Carlton’s mental playbook, but changing his objectives for games, helping him manage the inner impulses that he experienced prior-to playing and during playing, and helping him feel he ‘belonged’ on a Premier League pitch - combined, these were part of the many things he did to help him break into the first team and then get a few England caps.
Players need simple, practical mental frameworks in mental playbooks to compete mentally skilfully

Dear Oakland, with Love,
Oakland Sports have always been, and always will continue to be, iconic. From the Black Hole to the Outfield Bleachers, from the ‘We Believe’ era to the many Championship moments, Oakland Sports are simply different.
The Coliseum is Oakland’s home. This venue, its moments, and its memories belong not to any one team or organization, but to the people of Oakland and the incredible fans who have supported these teams over the years. What makes Oakland Sports and its fans the best in the world are the people, the community, and the shared memories we’ve built together.
At the heart of everything we do here at Oakland Roots and Soul SC is the commitment to honoring Oakland’s legacy and traditions (#KnowYourRoots), while carrying the torch for future generations (#OaklandFirstAlways). As Oakland Roots move into the Coliseum in 2025, our goal is to ensure that everyone, especially the young people in our community, have the chance to create unforgettable moments at the Coliseum and across the city of Oakland through sport for years to come.
Let’s show the world what Oakland is about. Oakland is Love, Joy, and Community. We have the chance today and all throughout 2025 to let everyone know why this is the greatest city on earth, why the people who support Oakland Sports are the best fans in the world, and why the power of the people together is unmatched.
See you all in 2025 at the iconic Oakland Coliseum.
