Please note that annual maintenance work will occur on Restharrow Scrape every Monday and Thursday morning for the next few weeks. Expect disturbance during those times.

Very strong signal for widespread heavy rainfall to affect London next Wednesday-Thursday, it looks something like a drought buster.
The remnants of low with potentially tropical characteristics will drag up significantly moist air towards UK. #ukweather

A Kent Star!
Very happy to have recently received my C Permit! Started 2 years ago when I was 14 and ringed around 2000 individuals since. Very pleased to now have my license. I even got a ringing tick of Bearded Tit whilst being assessed. @_BTO

The English Channel is separating us from getting “cooked” later this week.
In Paris 🇫🇷 5 consecutive >35C days are expected from this Thursday potentially peaking 38C/100F on Sunday combining with high humidity.
The heat & humidity will pose a significant challenge to wider population in mainland Europe where air conditioning remains scarce. Only 25% of homes in France have it.

Lots of scarce birds in Kent this week. Best were an Iberian Chiffchaff and a fly-by Gull-billed Tern. But there was plenty more with Hoopoe, Black-winged Stilt, Red-footed Falcon, Glossy Ibis and Temminck’s Stint all recorded. All details on kentos.org.uk #kentbirding

KOS Site of the month – March
Northward Hill RSPB - March is the time to visit this North Kent gem! The UK’s largest heronry is bursting into life, with Grey Herons and Little Egrets busy nesting. Keep an eye on the marshes for Marsh Harriers and wintering wildfowl! #kentbirding

KOS species of the month – March
March can see Northern Wheatears arrive in Kent. This smart looking species does breed in Kent but many more pass through to breed more northerly, including the Greenland sub species on their way to Greenland and north-west Canada. #kentbirding

For those tired of winter and ☔️ weather, there is growing evidence into following week of more consistent high pressure influence from Azores High.
There also looks to be an attempt next weekend in the south. I think this all points to eventual very mild conditions in final week of Feb, say mid teens. A burst of spring,

The earlier UKMO looks increasingly isolated and without support. See its output on left and compare with latest GEFS mean on Sunday with separation of troughing. The first phase a cleaner and colder east feed to end this week is locking into place.

Yes I suspect there will be snow showers but tending to go more east of London. So Kent, Essex, Suffolk ect.
