Questions must be asked as to why successive Ministers for Local Government refuse to commence Section 212 of the Local Government Act 2001 that would give effect to independent public inquiries of local authorities considered necessary in the wake of the Flood + Mahon tribunals.

Local authorities have taken more than 60 planning enforcement actions against developers for failing to comply with their social housing obligations since 2020. In one case, a developer sold a house a council was attempting to acquire for social housing jrnl.ie/6932783t

Well done Fiona for your persistence in tackling very *strange behaviours* at great personal cost. You're a well-cut diamond. Shame on @FineGael for what they did to you for speaking up. #WomenInPolitics #Governance #Ethics @SimonHarrisTD @CarrollJennifer @1Hildegarde @lukeming

Fiona has to be applauded for her work in highlighting this corruption, She kept working on this for years even though the state agencies were giving her a hard time. She is a loss to politics in this country.
My thanks for the messages of support as news broke of the charging of 4 people in connection with the #kwetb Raising concerns while on the Board was near impossible . There is much to be learned-from before, during and after the investigation started irishtimes.com/crime-law/cou…

That there isn’t one woman in any of these pictures is depressing. Are there any women on the Limerick consultative forum or is it business as usual for the boys club?
A pleasure to be in Limerick with @JamesBrowneTD, @podonovan & @kodonnellLK for today’s Consultative Forum with Mayor @moranjohna1 A first for local government Welcome the opportunity to discuss opportunities & challenges for the people of Limerick in housing & regional growth

I really hope we aren't sleepwalking our way into a catastrophe in this year's presidential election. We know a far-right candidate has little chance of winning but we would do well to remember just how personality-based these campaigns are. We are going to see an unprecedented (for Ireland) overseas interference campaign orchestrated through this social media platform and others. Are we just going to wait and see? Hope for the best? How's that working out elsewhere?

Here @celticjulie answers the questions which I posed at the @ep_petitions committee on Monday. What exactly is OFLA? The chair also sums up the discussion and concludes with support from Socialist and @epp group that the petition must be kept open. Good day for whistleblowers.
