Dear friends, during some recent medical examinations, the doctors found a small, localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage and is well-localized. The doctors believe that it is best to intervene, so, following their advice, I have decided to undergo surgery to remove it. The operation is already scheduled to take place in the coming days. The flag became a symbol of the Libertarian movement in the 70s due out of its meanings but also because of its color. Yellow/Gold were common symbols of libertarianism since the colors were often affiliated with capitalism and the free market.

The flag(or atleast variants of it with the rattlesnake) also appeared in multiple variants during the Civil War, where Southerners often used it as a symbol of resistance against Federal tyranny, attempting to relate to its Revolutionary Era meaning.

"Don't Tread On Me" origin is known, though it may come from John 20:17 where after Jesus comes out of his tomb He tells Mary Magdalene not to touch Him. Regardless, the phrase is a symbol of the self-determination motive of the Colonies. (it also appears in other flags)
