IPOB Accuses Security Agencies of Tagging Criminals as Members to Tarnish Image

The Indigenous People of Biafra’s Directorate of States under Mazi Chukwukadibia Edoziem has publicly denied that Michael Okafor, Chinedu Joseph Chukwudozie (alias Kante), Chibunna Olisa, and Chigozie Olisa (alias Ability) are members of the group, describing media reports linking them to IPOB as false and a calculated attempt to associate the organisation with crime.
The four men, who pleaded not guilty after being arraigned in an Abuja court on terrorism and kidnapping charges related to the alleged killing of a DSS operative, are unknown to the movement, IPOB insists, and it has challenged the police and DSS to produce any evidence of membership.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has secured an offer of specialised training for up to 5,000 Nigerian police personnel following security cooperation discussions with Italian authorities during his working visit to Italy.
The proposed training will focus on counter-insurgency, intelligence-led operations and tackling terrorism, kidnapping, arms trafficking and other security threats, particularly in rural and forested areas.(Biafraland)
The programme is expected to cover tactical operations, cybercrime, digital forensics, explosives detection, financial investigations, asset tracing and anti-extortion techniques. It will also include leadership courses for senior officers and junior commanders.
Disu also proposed a memorandum of understanding covering training, technology transfer and operational procedures, while inviting a Carabinieri assessment team to Abuja to identify Nigeria’s priority security needs.

WEDNESDAY MUSINGS
THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW HAVE BECOME THE BEGGARS OF TODAY: A GENERATION THAT HAS MORTGAGED ITS FUTURE FOR POLITICAL CRUMBS, WHILE MORAL DECADENCE REIGNS SUPREME!
From our earliest days in kindergarten, we were repeatedly reminded that we were the leaders of tomorrow. Those reassuring words instilled in us a sense of pride, responsibility, patriotism and an obligation to participate meaningfully in nation-building. We carried that message through secondary school and tertiary education. Interestingly, my daughter, who is on the verge of completing her university education, recently told me that the same message is still being drummed into their ears today: You are the leaders of tomorrow! One is therefore compelled to ask: when exactly will tomorrow arrive?
Today, that supposedly promising generation, particularly millions of unemployed graduates roaming the streets in search of opportunities, has become so economically strangulated that many have constituted themselves into political praise-singing platforms, endorsing the political ambitions of men old enough to be their great-grandfathers. More tragically, some of these political beneficiaries occupied positions of authority when these same youths were still in kindergarten, being taught that they would one day inherit the responsibility of leadership.
They now appear on television, mount political platforms, issue endorsements and pass fanciful votes of confidence on political officeholders whose stewardship has brought the country to its present sorry pass—all for a miserable political handout. That is what hunger, unemployment and economic strangulation can reduce a generation to. The tragedy is that when the electoral circus is over, the hired applause will cease, the political benefactors will retreat into their privileged mansions, and these young people will return to the same poverty from which they temporarily escaped through a loaf of bread. They have sold tomorrow to the very people who mortgaged their today.
But that is only one dimension of our national tragedy. We are equally confronted with an alarming generation that increasingly celebrates, normalises and rewards moral decadence. Permit me a simple illustration: publish a thoughtful, intellectually stimulating and educative article capable of expanding the intellectual horizons of our youths, and you may struggle to attract a fraction of the attention it deserves. But post a young lady virtually unclothed, publicly exhibiting her most intimate attributes in the name of birthday celebration, and watch thousands of unemployed youths troop into the comment section, applauding the spectacle, celebrating the indecency and virtually crowning its subject a role model. What an inversion of values! Apparently, in this new social order, intellectual excellence struggles for attention, while public indecency enjoys a standing ovation. When a society begins to applaud what ought to provoke reflection, its moral compass is already in distress.
The situation is further compounded by the dangerous obsession with instant wealth, popularly exemplified by internet fraud, otherwise known as Yahoo Yahoo, and other fraudulent shortcuts to prosperity. Hard work, integrity, patience and enterprise are increasingly being displaced by the desperate pursuit of wealth without a corresponding investment of character or legitimate effort.
And so, I ask: WHO WILL RESCUE WHOM IN PRESENT-DAY NIGERIA? The youths, who appear to have surrendered their moral compass and political independence, or the political class, which has perfected the art of converting public office into an inheritance, passing political power from one family member to another while leaving the overwhelming majority of young people to scramble for crumbs? Is this the leadership succession we promised them, or merely a sophisticated arrangement for perpetuating political dynasties?
It is, however, important to acknowledge that those still seeking greener pastures beyond our shores are, in many instances, driven by the enduring belief that diligence, discipline, competence and hard work can still translate into a meaningful future. A nation that makes honest labour unrewarding should not be surprised when its most promising hands seek opportunities elsewhere.
Our tertiary institutions must equally undergo fundamental moral and intellectual rehabilitation. Universities should not merely award certificates; they must cultivate character, discipline, critical thinking, civic responsibility and ethical values. In our university days, we were taught the virtues of hard work, integrity, decency and responsible citizenship. How did we travel so far from those ideals?
The uncomfortable truth is that rescuing Nigeria requires more than changing political officeholders; it requires rescuing the Nigerian youth from economic enslavement, intellectual laziness, moral bankruptcy and the dangerous illusion that relevance is measured by wealth, indecency or proximity to political power.
As the elders say, when the foundation is destroyed, the house cannot stand. And when a generation sells its conscience for a loaf of bread, it should not be surprised when tomorrow is taken away from it.
May God help us recover our values, rescue our youths and reclaim the future we have so recklessly endangered. At this rate, it will take more than political promises to save us.

WHEN ANCESTRAL HOMES BECOME KILLING FIELDS: UKPATA COMMUNITY BLEEDS FROM A DEADLY INVASION BY JIHADIST FULANI HERDSMEN, AS FAMILIES WEEP OVER THEIR FALLEN LOVED
ONES.
It was an otherwise ordinary day in the already fear-stricken community of Ukpata, in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State. But beneath the deceptive calm of the day, a deadly tragedy was unfolding.
The day’s defining political spectacle was the elaborate inauguration of the State Governor’s campaign council, accompanied by an impressive list of appointees which, rather curiously, included a Catholic Bishop and other revered men of God. While political permutations and electoral calculations were receiving elaborate attention, however, the ancestral homeland of Ukpata community in Uzo Uwani LGA , Enugu state was being subjected to a horrific bloodbath.
On that fateful day, heavily armed Fulani jihadist herdsmen unleashed another devastating wave of violence upon the defenceless and peace-loving people of Ukpata. Lives were lost, families shattered, and an entire community plunged into indescribable grief. The photographs emerging from the scene are deeply disturbing, and viewers are strongly advised to exercise discretion.
It was on Friday, the 29th day of October 2026, that Ezechi, aged 28, became the latest victim of this bloody assault on Ukpata community. Several others sustained varying degrees of injuries, while desperate efforts are being made by the community to save the lives of those grievously wounded.
Ezechi Ekenechukwu, a promising young man and breadwinner whose life was brutally cut short by the invading assailants. A family that once looked to him for hope and sustenance must now contend with the unbearable reality of his absence. There is no adequate language to console a family whose loved one has been violently snatched away in circumstances so cruel and senseless. Our hearts go out to the bereaved families and the entire Ukpata community.
More troubling still, no arrests have reportedly been made, even as casualty figures continue to emerge and ominous threats of further attacks reportedly hang over the community. How many more innocent lives must be sacrificed before the protection of these vulnerable communities is treated as an emergency rather than a matter of political convenience?
Perhaps Governor Peter Mbah should consider suspending the celebratory rhythm of campaign activities long enough to visit this grieving community, personally assess the devastation and demonstrate that the lives of rural Enugu residents matter just as much as the political arithmetic of the forthcoming elections. After all, what is the value of an elaborate campaign council when the very communities whose votes are being courted cannot sleep without fear of annihilation?
I have consistently sounded this alarm: the longer these murderous invaders are allowed to entrench themselves in the forests and farmlands of Uzo-Uwani, the more emboldened they become. The evil day of decisively routing these criminal elements from the forests and communities they have occupied must not be postponed indefinitely.
The Enugu forest guards deserve commendation for the sacrifices they continue to make under exceedingly difficult circumstances. However, their efforts must be reinforced with more sophisticated operational equipment, intelligence-driven security interventions and decisive government action. They cannot be expected to confront an increasingly emboldened and heavily armed adversary with inadequate resources.
Let it be stated unequivocally: the illegal occupation of the farmlands and bushes of Ukpata cannot end through wishful thinking, political speeches or cosmetic security arrangements. Those who have made peaceful habitation impossible must be made to understand that the government will no longer tolerate their criminal occupation.
There is an old saying that when the house is on fire, one does not assemble the elders to debate the colour of the flames. Ukpata is burning. Its people are mourning. Its ancestral heritage is under siege. This is no longer a matter for another committee, another promise or another campaign speech. It is a call for urgent, decisive and uncompromising action.
May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may the Almighty grant the bereaved families the fortitude to bear these irreparable losses.
ENOUGH OF THE BLOODLETTING! UKPATA MUST NOT BE ABANDONED!

2027: THE SEASON OF GRAND ILLUSIONS AND UNFULFILLED PROMISES — HOW LONG WILL NIGERIANS CONTINUE TO BE TAKEN FOR A RIDE?
What I am beginning to observe as campaign activities gradually unfold is the conspicuous absence of the usual political theatrics and spectacular displays of solidarity by enthusiastic Nigerians who, in previous electoral cycles, would travel from Lagos to Abuja, or even from Maiduguri to Abuja, simply to demonstrate their support for a presidential candidate they genuinely believed would rescue Nigeria from its economic quagmire. Whether this unusual silence is a reflection of growing political disillusionment, diminished enthusiasm or a loss of confidence in the electoral process remains a matter for reflection.
More importantly, this piece is dedicated to those Nigerians who still genuinely believe that their votes will count and that the electoral process will faithfully reflect their democratic choices, notwithstanding the troubling questions and concerns that have begun to emerge. Only recently, Nigerians were confronted with images of voters reportedly published on INEC’s portal, which generated concerns and suggestions of possible AI manipulation, although INEC is yet to provide an official clarification. My concern, however, is not principally about the activities of INEC, but about the expectations of ordinary Nigerians who continue to hope and pray for a better country.
We appear to have entered another season of grandiose campaign promises, where candidates aspiring to occupy various political offices will promise to turn water into wine, construct 10,000 kilometres of roads overnight, employ every unemployed graduate roaming the streets and, if possible, bring heaven down to earth before the expiration of their first year in office. Nothing, apparently, is beyond their capacity when they stand before a microphone seeking your vote!
We have also witnessed the rather theatrical era of candidates invoking the name of God and solemnly declaring that if they fail to fulfil their promises, voters should stone them alive whenever they return to solicit another mandate. Yet, Nigerians are still struggling to reconcile the promises made by a presidential candidate in 2023 concerning uninterrupted electricity supply, with the reality of another electoral season in which fresh promises are being rolled out. The very condition upon which voters were told to withhold a second-term mandate appears to have been conveniently forgotten. Unfortunately, political amnesia seems to afflict not only politicians but, regrettably, some sections of the electorate as well.
Yesterday, I decided to tune in to some local television stations to watch the campaign activities being transmitted live across the country. I could hardly contain my laughter at some of the promises being made to unsuspecting, economically distressed Nigerians, many of whom appear to attend these rallies principally in the hope of receiving enough money to provide their next meal. Sometimes, one is left wondering whether those making these promises appreciate the economic realities confronting the very people they are addressing. Perhaps they campaign from a different planet, where electricity is uninterrupted, food is affordable and unemployment is merely a statistical inconvenience!
But the more disturbing question is this: How long will Nigerians continue to applaud promises without demanding evidence of their fulfilment?
There is an old proverb that says, once bitten, twice shy. Unfortunately, our electoral experience sometimes suggests that we have become a people who are bitten repeatedly but continue to stretch out our hands for another bite! A people who refuse to take an inventory of yesterday’s promises will invariably become victims of tomorrow’s political deception.
The time has therefore come for every discerning Nigerian voter to engage in serious introspection. Before accepting another catalogue of electoral promises, let them ask what became of the previous ones. Let them demand verifiable records, measurable commitments and demonstrable accountability. Campaign grounds should not become theatres where politicians manufacture fantasies and voters are expected to applaud without asking questions.
Democracy is not sustained by campaign rhetoric, emotional spectacles or the distribution of a few banknotes to hungry citizens. It is sustained by the willingness of the electorate to hold those entrusted with public power accountable.
To those Nigerians who still believe that their votes count and that the ballot remains a potent instrument for determining their political destiny, my humble admonition is this: please, wear your thinking caps before surrendering your mandate to another season of political rhetoric.
A people who refuse to interrogate the promises of their prospective leaders should not be surprised when tomorrow becomes another painful reminder of yesterday's mistakes.

“We Do Not Want You to Know Him”: DOS Pushes Institution Over Chika Edoziem
Some of you are still judging IPOB, led by the Directorate of State (DOS) under Chika Edoziem, through the lens of a personality cult. Understand this and know peace. We are not building Chika Edoziem; rather, we are building institutional authority. We projected Nnamdi Kanu for over 10 years. That was a terrible mistake, and we are working to amend it. Today, the same person we projected says that Ndi Igbo joined IPOB because of him and not because of Biafra. He now sees us as hired people that he can sack at any time. We have accepted our earlier projection as a horrible blunder, and we are now working to promote the institution, not the personality.
We are not presenting Chika Edoziem to the world. No!, We are presenting the DOS as an institution to the global community. Do not expect to see Chika Edoziem the way you see Nnamdi Kanu. Remove the mentality that nobody knows him. We do not want you to know him; we want you to acknowledge an institution-based IPOB.
We have learned a terrible lesson from the individual we projected. When he attained relevance, he subjected our cause to the dustbin and presented himself as the ultimate authority. When someone sees himself as the one who decides who lives and who dies, we should be very worried.
The DOS under Chika Edoziem seeks to move the Biafra project from personality centred mobilisation toward an institution based framework.
