US imports a great deal of SPF, which... fun fact... is shorthand for spruce, pine and of course, friendship.
Smart, developers/general contractors get someone who understands lumber and framing involved early.

Less about commodity pricing on the VE though. But reducing EWP designs needs, lower grade lumber. OSB low grade vs premium grade (or medium grade. Advantech subfloor was often 2x medium quality OSB). Reduce need for sistering up studs on bottom floors. Incorporating balconies into floor trusses. Much more!! All design related.

Recently wore my new T-shirt to the local builders association parade of homes. @LumberTrading
When I looked at the board today my first thought was, how can I sell with this.
For a few reasons. It’s fun to close deals, I need to make sure I’m managing price risk, my customers appreciate my “expertise” in lumber.
Point is, I almost immediately reverted to my 2021 self.
