🧵 READ THE CORGI
Revisiting a foundational @TheCORGILab study — the one that launched our health-systems research, published in @JAMAOnc. Across 185 countries: which national health-system features track with better cancer survival?
Two rose above the rest — universal health coverage and national income.
By @EChrisDee, @JamesFanWu & colleagues · @JAMANetwork · @JAMA_current. Grateful for our co-authors @erin_feliciano @fredtingmd @jonas_willmann @francesvho @BhavJain_ @Urvish_Jain1 @jennych7799 @fabiomoraesmd @imrtlee @IyengarPuneeth @DrPaulNguyen! Here's how 👇

🧵 READ THE CORGI
CORGI's first study using @IHME_UW's Global Burden of Disease (GBD): blood cancers across the East Asia region, 1990–2021, in @JCM_MDPI (open access).
Led by @JamesFanWu.
Rising incidence, falling mortality — and one blood cancer surging fastest of all. Here's what we found 👇

In his words:
"I am so amazed how @TheCORGILab brings together clinicians, researchers, and institutions across different regions to help bridge gaps in knowledge, promote equitable access to innovation, and translate scientific discoveries into better cancer care.
Through collaboration, data sharing, and capacity building, CORGI strengthens the global oncology community and drives progress toward more effective, accessible, and patient-centered cancer care worldwide."

Say it louder for the folks in the back!! I get so mad when I do second opinions for premenopausal patients with node positive disease who were given only tamoxifen because their oncologists told them there “wasn’t a big difference” between tam and OA/AI. There is!!!!!
Ovarian function suppression is arguably the most important advancement for ER+ young women with breast cancer, markedly reducing recurrence.
Now more trials on how to support side effects for these women thrown into early menopause. #bcsm

Grateful for @myESMO Merit Travel Grant!
Happy to be part of this study but at the same time a bit worried about the results.
.
Early Onset Colorectal Cancer incidence and mortality are expected to increase by approximately 20% from 2022 to 2050.
Low Human Development Index countries, Eastern Africa, Western Africa, and Middle Africa are projected to have more than double the number of cases and deaths (119.4% to 152.4% and 119.9% to 153.2%).

Let us please have our families, friends, and ourselves screened! Colonoscopy is recommended to start at 45 years old. 🙏

Thank you, @EChrisDee , for making this happen and bringing the paper all the way from the US!
