New from PocketJS: quickjs-oxide. A JavaScript interpreter modeled after QuickJS, implemented from scratch by AI in Rust with zero unsafe code, and the first of its kind to achieve performance competitive with the original QuickJS. We spent one month achieving a high Test262 pass rate, then another month cleaning up the code, getting rid of the AI slop, and reaching competitive performance with just a stack VM and reference counting. Over the last weekend at RustChinaConf, we rewrote the core into a register VM and achieved this level of performance in just two days. Now quickjs-oxide outperforms most non-JIT JavaScript engines on benchmarks like V8 v7 and the Octane suite, using only around 30% more memory than QuickJS, while maintaining zero lines of unsafe implementation code and no external dependencies except for BigInt support. Huge credit to @ericoolen_eric for making this happen, and massive thanks to our sponsor @ZephyrCloudIO for supporting the journey!

👀 Have you heard of this new experimental React MCP? Now officially documented here: react.dev/reference/dev-tool… Technically, it's not really an MCP ➡️ registers a group of tools to Chrome DevTools MCP

I made a little playground for tsrs 🦀 Runs in your browser with WASM, and it’s much much faster than the tsgo WASM version! tsrs.sxzz.dev
rolldown-plugin-dts now lets you choose your TypeScript compiler for .d.ts generation: tsc, tsgo or tsrs Benchmark: • Real repo: tsrs 229ms, 3.6× faster than tsc • 1000 modules: tsrs ~10% faster, ~13% less memory than tsgo • tsrs is lowest on time and memory in every workload

Critical PHP vulnerabilities to be disclosed tomorrow: php.net/archive/2026.php. We're working directly with the PHP Foundation to get patched PHP versions into our base images for Laravel Cloud, Forge, and Vapor ASAP. You may need to redeploy your apps at that time to use these patched versions, but we're also working on the ability to silently patch applications without needing a redeployment. All customers have been emailed and we will be providing further updates via email as the situation evolves.

My concern with the upcoming PHP RCE disclosure is how many systems could remain exposed long after patches become available. Roughly a third of PHP websites still run PHP 5 or 7. Some operators will need to migrate old applications before they can move to a supported release. Even on supported versions, plenty of systems won't be patched immediately. Some owners won't notice the advisory; others can't deploy an update that quickly. We still need the technical details to understand the actual exposure. If reliable, unauthenticated exploitation works across common deployments, I'd expect automated mass exploitation very quickly. AI-assisted exploit development and payload adaptation could shorten the response window further. For detection teams, I'd prepare now for the activity that follows. I expect plenty of familiar shells, downloaders, webshells and persistence mechanisms, even though the entry point is new. I've published a process-watcher guide with PHP configurations to record descendant processes and their command lines, with optional termination rules for shells, interpreters and known payload patterns: github.com/Neo23x0/process-w… Short-lived commands can still be recorded, even when they finish before the kill response arrives. Activity entirely inside the PHP worker remains a blind spot. THOR Lite already includes relevant detections. We'll also review internally what additional post-exploitation coverage we can make publicly available. After patching, check for compromise. An update doesn't remove an existing webshell or invalidate stolen credentials.
Okay, since the news is already out: an RCE vulnerability in PHP core, CVSS 10.0. Further details are scheduled for release on October 20. Only PHP 8 will receive patches.

Content mappers in TS 7.1 are an absolute game changer It’s plugins for TypeScript: a way to dynamically compute a static type signature for external file types (.vue, .md, etc) and integrate them directly into tsc compilation
TypeScript 7.1 Beta is now available! Now with a preview API, content mapper support, new features, and some great optimizations. Give it a try and give us some feedback! devblogs.microsoft.com/types…

Tip for faster Oxlint on CI: Turn off "warn" rules. No one reads warnings on CI, so this is a no-brainer. ESLint v10 does this by default, oxlint currently doesn't. Effect on Framer's monorepo: 100s → 66s, 51% faster.
