unironically, I think pharmaceutical advertisements figured out the way to depict people with conditions instead of caricatures of the condition. like its (1) show the symptom isolated from the person (2) show the person without the symptom like a normal person. lol
I've been joking with my gf that the reason why marvel movies will destroy a building, after showing a bunch of people die, is so that people can empathize through property damage.
imo being repulsed like this is like human failure. it only comes from making some sort of association and and then reinforcing and allowing the association to become instinctual. which isnt necessarily intentional, but like why not question it; its a negative emotional response.

i wish gender wasnt so often described as a just a spectrum. i think it leads to this idea that people fall somewhere on a line of 'woman' or 'man' presentation. i feel like even sticking with it but adding 'a spectrum with different intensities' would be great

After 11 years as a sports columnist at the Seattle Times, I have decided to resign. It was entirely my choice, and it was not an easy one. The impetus was the Times declining to run a column I wrote from the perspective of two female student athletes who were opposed to competing against biological males. It was one of several pieces of mine that had been spiked, and I no longer felt like I could properly do my job as a columnist. I lay out the situation in greater detail in the link below, but I want to say that I enjoyed my time with the paper, find the talent there to be immense, and have no animosity toward anyone who works there. It was just time for a change.

1/3) irl update and why i havent been posting much:
~2years ago I left a Chemical Engineering program bc (1) I didnt want to do it, and (2) I was having issues with my identity/starting transition that made focusing enough not possible
2/3) I started back in school a year ago, with a different major in mind relevant to what I want to do. I finished the prereqs I needed. Last quarter I applied to and got accepted into the program which starts next quarter.

only imax 70mm film theater in WA was at pacsci. some company donated a dual laser projecter to them and they switched to digital (still right aspect ratio at least). now pacsci has new owner and the theater w the right imax AR is only showing documentaries.
