Self-Interest Is Moral, and That’s What France Forgot You have seen the footage of France on fire, being looted by the very people the nation took in and tried to help. There is a philosophical cause to this disaster. The people of France have historically been Christian. Even today, secular France has its moral foundation largely shaped by ideas that either come from Christianity or seem to. One of the foundational ideas that people attribute to Christianity is the importance of loving your neighbor. But the specific concept and boundaries of neighborly love are open to debate. The disaster in France comes as a logical consequence of a false concept of love. And this false concept traces to another issue: What does it mean to be selfless or selfish? Christians often denounce “selfishness.” But the Bible shows rational self-interest as our main reason to follow God and to do right. Let’s trace the logic: Some people say we should only follow the Lord because of *who he is,* not for what he can do for us. But is that what the Bible says? Consider the motivation pattern modeled by God himself. In Isaiah 48 God says, "For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it." Jesus shows the same model. He went to the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterwards (Hebrews 12:2). Jesus teaches his followers to think along the same lines: “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” (Mark 8:36). Paul likewise tells us to seek the reward and run the race so “that you may obtain it” (1 Corinthians 9:24). God operates out of self-interest, and he expects us to as well. A lot of Christians miss this. The broader society likewise misses it. This accounts for the trend of suicidal empathy. So what do I mean by self-interest? I mean doing what’s actually *good* for a person. I don’t mean doing whatever you happen to feel like doing right now. What’s in my self-interest? Simple: the things that lead to my prosperity and life. This is the right motive. Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). He wants you to live. Hebrews 11:6 tells us “whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he *rewards* those who seek him.” Faith in this context *means* the belief that God will reward you. Valuing your life means valuing your rational self-interest. It is an overlooked principle in the Bible, and it is fundamental. It matters. If Christians keep missing it, we will not hold onto sound theology for long. And we will not hold onto a free nation for long either. Consider what happens to nations that follow the opposite course. You don’t have to look far for an example.

This is an odd thing for Megan Basham to say after she asked Michael O’Fallon and me and others to pull together dossiers on her opponents (and we did so) and then she used our information in her book. At this point I thought most of the juicy insider knowledge Michael O’Fallon has possession of was becoming public either due to him having posted specific receipts about it over the years or due to him saying “this is probably going to happen in some form soon” and then it actually happening and then him showing receipts that he said it would. This is what you are able to do when you possess insider information but you also don’t want to spend a decade combating random lawsuits. An interesting thing about Megan Basham’s comment here is that it does not sound like a talking point she generated herself. It sounds like something that was generated in a group chat by other people who have a different context of information and a different mentality. As an example, remember what Basham said in her book Shepherds for Sale: “Michael O'Fallon and Bill Roach were similarly generous and saved me weeks if not months of research with short phone calls.” Does this even sound like the same Megan Basham? Perhaps Basham has lost track of the facts.

Replying to @megbasham
Dear Megan: Over the years, I've genuinely tried to sidestep direct confrontation with you, understanding your health struggles and trusting that your personal reflection and dialogue with @ConceptualJames would eventually help you see how far you've strayed from where you should be. Regrettably, you keep repeating the same painful patterns, haven't made use of the time I've graciously offered over the years, and seemingly haven't reviewed any of the substantive, fact-based materials I've presented throughout these 8 years - each containing thorough supporting evidence. Thankfully, others have written factual books that are free from fertile fallacies that used the information trails that I have provided for them. Documentary films have been made using the supporting evidence that both James and I have provided that exhibit an objectively true historical examination of the who, what, when, how and why critical theory and postmodernism was infused into education, faith, research, healthcare, entertainment, media, financial insitutions, political organizations, and corporations. And although I offer to help with many different authors and journalists, I normally lead them to pathways where they can find the evidence that they need as opposed to throwing the evidence right in their lap. I also am careful with people that could use the information that I provide that could potentially wind up being bad actors. And, maybe I missed the point where you have apparently asked again and again for information, but you have ignored the warnings that @ConceptualJames , @billroach_ and I have given you in regards to the organizations that you have decided to join and defend. I have explained to you that these organizations would eventually call for Balkanization. We explained that the organizations you were mixing with were leading down the same path of embracing critical theory, postmodernism, distributism and integralism. You decided to ignore these warnings from friends and continued down this path. We have both explained to you that transformational history occurs through the use of the dialectic and that the current movement that you are defending is the *antithesis* or *reaction* phase of the dialectic that will eventually lead to *synthesis.* So, you have ended up endorsing people and organizations that are suggesting that the "New Right" use the same analytical tools that the Woke Left was using in Biblical interpretation just 7 years ago. You are propagating information from organizations that are using Machiavellian tactics with other people of faith. And lastly, you have sat by silently a these organizations have made truly vile false accusations about my friend @ConceptualJames , my family, and yours truly. I'm not referring to "he spoke at such-and-such conference with so-and-so" accusations: I am referring to disgusting, nauseating accusations sourced from "your friends." @ConceptualJames and I will continue to use truthful methods. We will continue to shed objective light in the radically subjective darkness: on both the Left and the faux Right. And I will personally do all that I can to preserve the Gospel and our constitutional republic. Capiche?

William Wolfe is not even a Southern Baptist. He takes his funding from anti-American organizations and he rejects the US Constitution and religious liberty.
"I love my Southern Baptist brothers who are dispensationalists, but the reality is that theology is waning in the US and simply saying 'because the Bible says so,' in light of these very difficult conversations, isn't going to work." — @WilliamWolfe at NatCon Jerusalem

The observation that NatCon is starting to look more like a Groyper conference is correct, and in more ways than one. The Groypers, Fuentes, Sneako, the Isker/Torba set, and the rest of that circuit are not going to turn up at NatCon, and that is by strategic design. That faction is built as an influencer operation aimed at frustrated young men. NatCon is built for a different room: policymakers, intellectuals, diplomats, and academics, the blazer-and-Brooks-Brothers crowd. A different aesthetic and "voice" but the same underlying program. What unites them is the diagnosis and the prescription: -America is already over. -The Constitution is just a piece of paper. -Multipolarity is inevitable. -The U.S. needs a divorce. -Authoritarianism is not such a bad thing once you stop being sentimental about liberalism. -A monarchical episcopate looks attractive. -Franco was awesome. -Russia and China, whatever their faults, seem to have figured out something the liberal West refused to see. Then, add the post-work, distributive economics and you have the same postliberal package, just tailored to two audiences: one crass and online, one respectable and institutional. Every once in a while you will have a few figures that float in-between Groyper CN world and NatCon: Auron MacIntyre (not his real name), William Wolfe, and various Blaze commentators. The Woke Right does not require everyone to sound like Nick Fuentes. It only requires the same operating system: liberalism is the problem, some alien force has already ruined the country, and enforced adherence to a replacement order is the remedy. NatCon runs the polite version. The Groyper circuit runs the vulgar one. The messaging is the same. And yes, you have seen this before on the Left. @ConceptualJames, @CodyLibolt , @DefiyantlyFree , @SethDillon , @ClassicLibera12 , @billroach_ , @PhilWMagness, @jasonahart have been warning you for years that this simulation of conservatism was here to lead America down a destabilizing path. Maybe now is the time to start taking this seriously.
This conference is starting to look more and more like a Groyper conference. I’ve said it many times before: Jews increasingly feel they have no political home. The left treats us with hostility, while parts of the right tell us to shut up, fall in line, and kneel. People should not be surprised when that frustration shows up at the ballot box on November 3. Elections have consequences—and so does taking Jewish voters for granted.

There are a whole lot of professing Christians who don’t want to obey Romans 12:9 - “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.” If you do not abhor what is evil, you are a hypocrite.
