Workers now get 53% of what U.S. businesses produce. That’s the lowest share since records began in 1947, per BLS.
Productivity rose 3.6% in the third quarter. Labor costs per unit of output fell 0.7%.
Growth is arriving, and workers are getting a smaller slice of it.
Gold is up more than 4% this week, near $4,066 an ounce.
December Fed hike odds fell to 68% from 82% as oil dropped, per Deutsche Bank. Gold pays no interest, so lower rate odds help it.
Some investors sold it as stocks fell. Gold traded as a rate story first, a refuge second.
One starting point for reviewing a portfolio is how much of your income, savings, pension and home depend on a single country and currency. The discussion then turns to how older bonds can lose value when new bonds pay more.
The dollar accounts for roughly 57% of global foreign exchange reserves.
The euro represents 20%.
The yuan sits around 2%.
For all the headlines about the end of dollar dominance, the actual reserve data tells a bit of a different story.
Narratives move fast, folks.
Roughly 3.7 million Bitcoin are estimated to be permanently lost.
That's close to 20% of all Bitcoin mined.
Pretty crazy to think about when you consider Bitcoin’s already limited supply.
The U.S. 30-year Treasury yield is 5.29% this morning, a day after stocks had their worst session since April 2025.
The 10-year sits at 4.87%. The 2-year is 4.50%.
A $25 billion sale of 30-year bonds comes Nov. 12. It will show whether buyers think 5.3% is enough.
Everyone argues about which AI is best.
But the question we like to ask is, "Who gets paid from the industry as a whole?"
In the California gold rush, most miners never struck gold.
But the merchants selling picks and shovels?
They made bank.
Agentic AI is a gold rush of its own, and the stack has 5 layers:
1. Chips
2. Cloud and power
3. Foundation models
4. Orchestration and tools
5. Applications
So far the profit has pooled in chips, infrastructure, and electricity.
But that doesn’t mean it will stay there…
Here are 4 questions you should ask before jumping into an AI-related position:
1. Which floor is it on?
Picks and shovels at the bottom, or a crowded layer up top?
2. Where's the chokepoint?
Does it get paid no matter who dominates the layer above?
3. Is it a thin wrapper?
Does it just wrap someone else's model, or own something hard to copy?
4. What does it own that a rival couldn't clone next quarter?
Data, users, a workflow customers are locked into, etc.
Another thing to think about:
Analysts project more than 40% of agentic AI projects will be scrapped within a couple of years.
In other words, run your picks through these 4 questions like your life dollars depend on it…
Because they do.
What layer of the AI stack are you currently looking at right now?

A market dip can be difficult to define with a fixed rule. This clip explains how machine learning looks for patterns in data, then considers how that analysis can support human investment decisions.
Holding some cash can matter during market stress, as a line often attributed to Keynes suggests. The discussion focuses on avoiding a forced sale at the wrong time, not on predicting when markets will move.
The US now owes more than $40 trillion.
Annual interest costs exceed $1 trillion.
That's more than the military budget.
The government has reached a point where servicing yesterday's debt consumes an astronomical amount of today's resources.
$500,000 invested in the S&P 500 in 1985 generated roughly $21,000 in annual dividends.
The same amount invested today?
About $5,350.
Massive difference for someone trying to live off their portfolio.
You can own 500 stocks, a bond fund, a money market account, and a house…
While still holding one position at 100% weight.
The US dollar.
Most Americans never think of that as a bet.
But last year, the dollar index fell about 9.5% (its worst year since 2017).
The euro gained about 13.5% against it. The Swiss franc, more than 14%.
Every dollar-only saver lost global purchasing power.
It really gives you something to think about because a decision you didn’t consciously make could drastically impact your portfolio's (adjusted) performance.
Here’s a quick list of what moves a currency:
• Relative inflation
• Relative deficits
• Relative debt
• Credit standing
• Rate differentials
The lesson here is to be aware of currency risk.
It’s an invisible tax that impacts most people.

This clip explains spoofing: orders placed with the intention of cancelling them before execution to create a misleading market signal. Rapid trading and legitimate order cancellations are not automatically spoofing.
This explainer walks through how a cost-of-living crisis can interact with heavy public debt and rising borrowing costs, using France's October 2026 bond sale as an example. It describes a possible feedback loop rather than a prediction.
Stablecoins processed $482 billion in payments during the first 9 months of 2026.
That's 45% more than a year prior.
The number of transactions grew even faster, up 71%.
So when you hear people talk about digital asset adoption, it’s no longer just about price speculation.
People are actually using the infrastructure.
In 1987, the Dow fell 22.6% in one day.
Yet an investor who held the S&P 500 through the entire year finished up roughly 5% with dividends.
This is exactly why having a plan is so important.
When the market panics, you’ll have your emotions in check.
Gold traditionally earns no interest, pays no dividends, and reports no earnings.
But in 2025, it rose about 65% and set more than 50 all-time highs.
So technically, an asset that does “nothing” outran most of the assets that do, well… everything.
Gold is considered a “safe haven” asset, which is where money goes when people are fearful.
To qualify, it has to hold value when other things collapse, be trusted across borders and generations, and be impossible to inflate away quickly.
Gold has ticked all 3 boxes for longer than any asset in history.
So when gold has its best year in half a century…
That goes to show how much fear was in the market.
It’s a great barometer for decision-making, because you can really get a feel for investor sentiment by keeping an eye on not just gold, but all the safe havens.
What percentage of your portfolio currently consists of gold?
Offers, counteroffers and a hard stopping point. This dramatized negotiation shows how a deal can close before either side reveals the price they would have accepted.
A country under strain can drift into managed decline, break in a chaotic collapse or rebuild through renewal, with Japan, Greece and Germany as examples. The three are discussed as possibilities for France, not a forecast.
