A new Report in @ESAEcology:
Skewness in bee and flower phenological distributions

With #OpenData in @ZENODO_ORG
#Phenology #Bees #Pollination #OpenScience #NSFFunded @NSF @M_Stemkovski

ALT Flower (top panel) and bee (bottom panel) phenological skewness. Both flower and bee species tend to have right-skewed phenological distributions, though there is substantial variation in shape, and many distributions in both groups are not significantly different from symmetrical (white shaded bars). Skewed distribution icons give the percent of individual time-series that are significantly left- and right-skewed

New paper publishing time series data showing that wild bee abundance declined by 58% over 8 years. But. Populations were highly variable, and whether results are statistically significant depends on the analysis approach used.

Just released- our new paper reflecting on mismatches between conservation research and implementation!
We conclude that there has been progress in the alignment of research and practice in recent years, but that mismatches remain (especially due to institutional constraints)

So sad to hear this. @Nachusa is a beautiful tallgrass prairie protected and restored by @Nature_IL and a dedicated team of volunteers and staff.
The fire completely destroyed a barn and much valuable equipment.
Please support Nachusa as they recover nachusagrasslands.org/donateā¦
Some very sad news today. @Nachusa had a fire in their barn and lost a lot of equipment, including my lab's UTV.
So thankful that no one was hurt, but this will add to an already huge pile of restoration work they have to do out there.
If you can spare funds, please donate.
