The Solana architecture will still be thriving 10 years from now. Library optimizations, compiler optimizations, and hardware optimizations will collectively outpace any need for sharding for the foreseeable future. There’s more tailwind than just Moore’s Law

Keystone: hold my beer 🍺
We owe you an apology. On October 20, we detected unauthorized access to our official website. After verifying API activity with Shopify, we confirmed on October 23 that a third party obtained customer shipping information. You trusted us with those details, and we're sorry we didn't keep them safe. Exposed: names, contact details, shipping addresses, and order details (items and prices). Not exposed: payment card or bank details, recovery phrases, private keys, or wallet passwords. We've blocked access, fixed the vulnerability, opened an investigation, and are emailing affected customers. Scammers may pose as Keystone by phone, text, email, or mail, offering refunds, replacement devices, or "fixes" for your order or address. None of it is from us. NEVER share your recovery phrase or private keys, and NEVER enter your recovery phrase into a device you didn't order. We will never ask for them. Don't click links in unexpected messages. Type keyst.one yourself. A detailed report is coming soon. Until then, trust only our official channels. If anything feels off, email [email protected]. We'd rather hear from you than have you take a chance. Again, we're truly sorry to everyone affected.

Geothermal has a clear path to becoming the cheapest form of energy, period. It starts with a better picture of the subsurface, using what we learn in the field to build better models and find geothermal resources others have missed and overlooked. This is just the beginning.

huge accomplishment. congrats @bw_solana, the entire @anza_xyz team, many of whom have been grinding nonstop since years before the network went live and any of this was validated as being worth anything in a crowded landscape. engineers relentlessly improving performance.
In 2022, Ethereum shipped The Merge, migrating its consensus protocol from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake. It was an engineering feat 7 years in the making. Today is @solana’s Merge. Shoutout to the engineers at @anza_xyz for shipping Alpenglow in a fraction of the time.

My spy-implanted ledger came from Malaysia, and had flawless shrink wrap. Even opening it, at first you don't see the implant which is cleverly hidden where the screen's padding is supposed to be. Follow Ledger's guidance to check yours: support.ledger.com/article/4…

Incredible
For the first time in Solana history, we can generate Solana programs directly from upstream rustc and LLVM! Starting with sbpf-linker 0.2.3, you can compile a no_std Solana program with just cargo +nightly build, and voilà! ✨ Anything that doesn't work should be considered a bug, and I'll fix it! I've chewed through all the compiler and assembly glass so you don't have to. The only thing left for you is to learn Rust properly. Below is a quick guide to .cargo/config.toml 101 and Solana libcalls

Systematically deriving efficient programs from specifications with formally verified step-by-step transformations was a beautiful idea from the 80s from Richard Bird Lambert Meertens. With the advent of AI coding agents and AI theorem provers its time has finally come. I think this can form the basis of AI coding agents that generate correct by construction code accompanied by the working out that explains its derivation to a human (or another agent). The linked article reproduces one of Richard Bird’s classic examples in Lean 4, along with proofs and performance results. satnam6502.github.io/bird-me…

OpenGrid is here. The new initiative from the @linuxfoundation grew from @BillGates’ push for better tools to guide energy infrastructure decisions—and was incubated through our GRIDS program. Reliable electricity enables health, jobs, and economic growth. OpenGrid is bringing open-source innovation to grid planning so more countries can build the infrastructure to deliver it. bth-energy.com/4i8TC7L

Feels like a watershed moment for crypto
This is it. The mainstream crypto adoption moment we've been waiting for: Samsung, the world's biggest phone maker, is bringing stablecoins to their users. And those stablecoins are on @solana. 250 million devices per year, and over a billion devices globally. All with access to digital money. Now, anyone with a Samsung phone can use crypto, and it just works magically in the background. Instant, fast, secure, and it works anywhere in the world.

Longtime fan of this linker. Rui is a rockstar. Thrilled to see the project migrate to Rust
A Linux developer tool just dropped its entire C++ codebase for Rust. It’s called mold, and it helps developers build software faster by combining compiled code into the final program. Version 3.0 is a complete Rust rewrite, and the developers say it’s still just as fast as the C++ version. It keeps the same commands and supported architectures. They even built all Gentoo packages to check compatibility and reported no regressions. The rewrite also replaces CMake with Cargo, removes Intel’s oneTBB dependency and adds bounds checking when processing corrupted files. Now the developers want to close the remaining compatibility gaps with GNU ld so Linux distributions can adopt mold as their default. Source: github.com/rui314/mold/relea…

I just released mold 3.0.0! This is the first Rust version of mold, rewritten from C++ with performance on par with 2.42.1. The goal of mold 3.x is to close the remaining GNU ld compatibility gaps and make mold the default linker in Linux distros. github.com/rui314/mold/relea…
