Our Weekly Market Commentary for October 26, 2026 is out.
Macro: Money supply (M3) grew 24.47% year-on-year to ₦146.60trn, far above the CBN’s 8% target for 2026. Credit to government rose 63% in a year, while lending to businesses slipped in September.
FX: The naira weakened 2.2% in the official market to ₦1,361.84/$. That included its largest one-day fall since April 2025. Reserves held at $55.16bn.
Equities: The NGX dipped 0.13%, and is still up 58.87% this year. First HoldCo jumped 10% after its nine-month profit rose 65%.
Fixed Income: OMO rates rose to 17.63% even after September’s 350bps rate cut. The one-year T-bill still yields 18.91%, well above inflation.
Global: Brent hit $117, a four-year high, and tech stocks slipped ahead of this week’s Fed meeting.
