Details: cybersecuritynews.com/emerge…
Oracle has released an emergency Java security update to address CVE-2026-91403, a critical vulnerability affecting how Java applications trust digital certificates. Published on October 21, 2026, the alert assigns the flaw a CVSS 3.1 score of 9.1 and covers Oracle Java SE and GraalVM.
The update blocks affected intermediate certificate authority certificates linked to eMudhra. According to Oracle’s security advisory, the issue affects the Java Secure Socket Extension, or JSSE, component.

We’re opening a research preview of Claude Duet, a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent.
It comes to you with what needs your attention, completes tasks you ask of it, keeps working when you step away, and checks with you before it acts on your behalf.
How can we achieve interoperability and effective data governance when the very institutions responsible for our national data cannot agree on their mandates?
This is actually concerning
PUBLIC STATEMENT
The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has learnt with concern of the launch of a “National Data Strategy” by the Ministry of Information, Communication Technology and National Guidance (MoICT&NG).
The Bureau informs the public that the strategy breaches the provisions of the UBOS Act, 1998, Cap. 333, which establishes UBOS as the principal data collecting and disseminating agency responsible for coordinating, monitoring and supervising the National Statistical System.
The public is therefore strongly advised to treat the impugned “National Data Strategy” recently launched by the MoICT&NG with the utmost contempt it deserves.

The narratives of software being dead!
In 1994, software was dead. People told me programming was for nerds and that I should become a doctor or a lawyer instead.
In 2004, software was dead. People told me that someone from India would take my job for $5/hour.
In 2014, software was dead. People told me that no-code was going to kill every job and doom my career.
In 2024, software was dead with Devin, Windsurf, Copilot, and OpenAI o1.
We kill software every 10 years, and yet the demand for good Software Engineers has never been higher.

Most agent failures aren’t model failures.
They’re harness failures;
tools, memory, loop, and guardrails.
Learning AI in 2026 is interesting.
You can build something in a weekend that would've taken a team months a few years ago.
The harder question is whether anyone actually needs it.
Africa doesn't lack talented developers.
But how do we turn more of that talent into globally competitive products and companies?
AI agents look impressive in demos.
Production is a different story.
Authentication, retries, permissions, logging, costs, and failure handling.
That's the work nobody posts about.
Your side project doesn't need 10,000 users.
Sometimes 10 people who genuinely depend on it are enough to prove you're building something valuable.
Are we training the next generation of software engineers or just people who know how to prompt AI tools?
Python, Docker, Linux, SQL, Git.
Before chasing every new AI framework, how comfortable are you with these fundamentals?
