Microsoft's Azure growth accelerated from 43% to 48% on a $120 billion plus business. Gil Luria (@gilluria) tells Ed Elson (@edels0n) why investors are rewarding Microsoft over Amazon, Google and Meta. "And importantly, is a company that still has positive cash flow. Can't say that about Amazon, Google, and Meta... They're all spending a lot, but Microsoft's doing it a little bit more responsibly." This is from yesterday's episode: 'Microsoft Rises, Google Tanks: Why Investors Are Polarized On Big Tech'. nitter.gq/a/status/2115776…

$GOOG after earnings crash seems real - the gig is finally up on the blue links era. Also, as @gilluria pointed out on CNBC: ""The internet's being used by more chatbots than humans, and its hard to sell a chatbot an ad"

What happens when investors stop funding the AI buildout? Gil Luria (@gilluria) tells Ed Elson (@edels0n) Big Tech will be fine, it's everyone else you have to worry about. "Capital is finite... Microsoft's gonna be fine. They don't need capital. Amazon, Google, Meta, still investment grade. Can probably raise as much as they want to a point. It's everybody else that you have to worry about." This is from today's episode: 'Microsoft Rises, Google Tanks: Why Investors Are Polarized On Big Tech'. nitter.gq/a/status/2115776…

Google's revenue is up 25%, but the stock fell 9% after hours, wiping out more than $300 billion in market cap. Gil Luria (@gilluria) tells Ed Elson (@edels0n) the problem isn't the cloud business, it's search. "We have long been worried that that business would be negatively impacted by AI. And it is Google search that was the big weakness. If people stop Googling and start GPTing, that means less ad sales." D.A. Davidson's Gil Luria says Alphabet should break itself up "It's very hard to sell a chatbot an ad" "Are you suggesting they break up the company?" "I am, and I have been" "You could get a Google Cloud business that trades at a 30, 40 times multiple instead of being dragged down to the 18 times multiple" Google Cloud revenue more than doubled to $30.7B, but free cash flow went negative and the stock is down about 10% $GOOGL The market is pricing Alphabet like a search company while its fastest growing business sits inside it via @CNBC, featuring @gilluria

Broadcom's $63 billion financing arrangement tied to Anthropic raises a bigger question. Is the AI boom becoming too dependent on debt? "Using debt to finance speculative investments. Never a good idea. That's how you get in trouble. That's why everybody's warning about a bubble." — @gilluria, Head of Technology Research at D.A. Davidson

Where is the AI bubble? Answer: Right in front of you. The two biggest names in AI are also the most overvalued. OpenAI and Anthropic plan to go public at a combined $3.4 trillion. I’d be fine with this if the AI labs were bringing in hundreds of billions of dollars per year, but they’re not. Quite the reverse: they’re losing billions of dollars per year. We don’t have an AI bubble — we have an AI startup bubble. I explain below.

ANTHROPIC'S SLOWING REVENUE GROWTH DOES NOT SIGNAL WEAKER AI DEMAND D.A. Davidson analysts Gil Luria and Turner Dischinger say Anthropic's slowing revenue growth should not be interpreted as a broader AI demand slowdown. They point to growing competition from OpenAI and open-weight AI models, as businesses diversify their AI spending. The key takeaway: Overall AI investment remains on a strong upward trajectory, supporting continued demand for computing power and data center construction. Source: D.A. Davidson

Is AI a bubble? Gil Luria (@gilluria) of D.A. Davidson tells Ed Elson (@edels0n) he's taking the other side. "Combining their revenue run rate with OpenAI's revenue run rate, we're gonna be well in excess of $100 billion. That number a year ago was maybe $10 billion and a year before that it was zero." $ASML earnings were excellent for the AI trade, says D.A. Davison's @gilluria. He points to commentary from the CEO that the company is struggling to meet demand as a bullish sign for the AI buildout. As for the stock's downside trading action, Gil attributes it to "bad luck" on a day where CPI came in hot. @StevenDickens3 calls ASML a "classic picks and shovels play" and says its lithography business offers plenty of strength for its outlook. He sees hyperscaler earnings from $MSFT, $GOOGL, $META, and $AMZN as tech's next big test. For more market news, tune in at: SchwabNetwork.com/?CID=SM:Tw…
