listening to his match commentary. The combination of the winding Mourne roads and the intermittent signal had at times made me car sick, but Mícheál’s calming tones saved many a family row. My father was so excited I’d get to meet him and I was nervous as hell.

Significant findings identified within this DHR that chimes with the Creswell case, in particular the failure again to refer the perpetrator into public protection arrangements (PPANI) & wider systemic failings in keeping victims safe from known DA offenders. @leonardconsult

PSNI has been forced to disclose information it tried to suppress into the Katie Simpson murder case, including the rank of personnel who blocked Press enquiries - @ulstergazette Questions over the handling of this case will not go away and cannot simply be stonewalled by PSNI.

The intention to carry out a review is welcomed & I look forward to the terms of reference. This review needs to be led by an independent expert. Its scope should consider the missed opportunities agencies had to disrupt Creswell & protect Katie. @NualaMcAllister @leonardconsult

As a very junior reporter on The Cross Examiner (Crossmaglen) my very first celebrity interview was with the legend Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh. He was a bit of a legend in our family as we’d spent Sundays travelling to and from Newcastle to my grandparents’ (1/4)

I met him in the Canal Court, I’d even bought a new “Chanel-like” jacket in Dunnes for the occasion. He was probably shocked when he saw 22 year old me walk in, but to this day he will be remembered as the kindest, most generous and supportive interviewee I’ve ever met. (3/4)

We chatted for more than an hour. He was tickled that a girl who supported Down was reporting on Armagh GAA! Having just marked 30 years at the BBC, I owe gratitude to Mícheál for giving me self belief in a job I continue to love. Rest in peace. (4/4)

Two tourists sitting near me at breakfast in Derry hotel and talking loudly on FaceTime to American friend. They “can’t wait to get out of Ireland… it rains all the time and it’s 16degrees….And they drive like f**king maniacs on the left side of the road”. #happyholiday
