This is a GREAT read that speaks of the importance of allowing students chances to make conjectures and incorporating writing to allow students the opportunity to express their “why”.
SCCPSS Hand2Mind district manipulatives training was a success! The session focused on fractions using pattern blocks, Cuisenaire rods, and fraction grids. Mrs. Denise Huddleston facilitated promoting critical thinking and reasoning. Excellent job!@denisehuddle @BethA123snoopy

I enjoy Marian Small's (@marian_small) Open Questions. She takes a traditional problem and opens up parts that lead to interesting explorations and conversations.
If you like them too, she's got an online workshop about creating & using open questions: grassrootsworkshops.com/work…
I had an amazing time these past two days facilitating math sessions at the district’s Teaching and Learning conference. Teachers were engaged and excited to learn why the CRA strategy and fluency are necessary for conceptual understanding.
Not only do you learn a lot at MathCON, but you also get to listen and learn from people who love mathematics and sharing ideas to increase student achievement for all!#MathCON2024
Honored to see my colleague and friend, Dr. Beth Tuck, win an award at the state’s MathCON gala for exhibiting mathematics excellence and leadership! Well deserved!💪🏾👏🏾#MathCON2024
Awesome first day at MathCON 2024 learning about the new state math standards and having a great time at the gala with new math friends!#MathCON2024
Teachers are important for student success but so are PRINCIPALS! The leaders in SCCPSS create a culture and environment of safety, support, and orderliness so that everyone in the building THRIVES! Those pictured do this well day in and day out. Happy National Principal’s Day!
A rare personal post but I want to share it with everyone because I’m so proud of my one and only child. Congratulations to my son Chase for being accepted into the Morehouse School of Medicine!
One of the coolest things to see is all of the Hand2Mind manipulatives from the state math grants coming into our schools to increase conceptual understanding. Butler Ele. and Rice Creek recently received theirs.Excited for kids
This is a pretty cool notice and wonder!💁🏾♀️💪🏾
