I quit my cushy tech job after working as a Data Analyst for the past 16 years. I was able to do this, because I spent those years building a solid financial foundation and learnt how to make money work for me, so the job became optional. I started from almost 0, ten years ago when I moved to the US from India. If you want to learn how I did it and what I learnt, follow along.

compute demand has not changed. only 1 governor was not priced in. oil is down 8% into the 80s. war is going to be over. inflation will come down. certainty is back. pick your favorite stock and buy it. you'll wish you bought more.

Such an insane overreaction in semis that we will laugh about. I don't think the market was pricing in Abbott losing but I really don't think this blue wave kills the supply demand trade in AI infra which won't end anytime soon. The truth is that no matter what markets think short term, AI is going to keep getting better and you're going to use more and more of it exponentially while supply comes online in a linear way. That's the trade. I always think back to the $CIEN CEO saying if the AI capex buildout stopped we wouldn't notice for two years. AI infra will keep putting up massive earnings like with $AMD. Just to show how overdone this sell off is: $NBIS down 7% with 0 exposure to Texas? $AAOI down basically to where it was after that biblical February earnings call where the company said in 18 months it could do it's annual revenue monthly. $BE falling under $200 despite its behind the meter technology becoming more critical than ever. Nothing has really changed in my view. Data centers were falling under scrutiny from both parties. AI capex forecasts are the same and growing. Some solid indicators like oil coming down, 10 year down, a pretty clear rationale to end the Iran War... what really changed and why did the thesis break, there is no evidence for that, so it sucks if you're long the data center trade but not sure there is anything to do but wait for the turbulence to pass and watch as these companies keep improving their fundamentals. Pretty clear where the value is in this market right now.

This looks like peak fear on AI. Market will look past this shortly. Capex numbers are still the same. $SPY is up nearly 2% as capital top blasts value. Only so long until investors fomo back into an AI trade that's unchanged by nothing but sentiment. Enjoy Walmart sheep.

There you go. X money 6% is now capped at the first $150,000 starting December 1, 2026. Still quite generous for most people. But there is going to be more limitations in future. However until then, enjoy the rates. nitter.gq/i/trending/21163514505…

X Money pays 6% on your savings. Getting $200,000 (house down payment) back out can take 27 months. I read the fine print so you don't have to. By default, X lets you move $1,500 a day and $7,500 a month back to your bank. That's the whole catch, and it matters more than the rate. I looked because @ZackStacksKap were discussing whether X money is better than SGOV (where I keep my savings). 6% vs about 4% on money parked anyway? Hard to say no. Then the strings: • The $8 Premium plan doesn't get 6%. You need $1,000 of paychecks landing there in the past 34 days, or Premium+ at $40 a month. • Moving your own savings in doesn't count. • Paying for Premium+ just for the rate only wins above $27,000 to $75,000, depending on your state tax. • Wires and checks are capped too. The fast way out is an instant transfer at 1.75%: $3,500 on $200,000. (erasing most of the benefit compared to SGOV) • New York residents earn 0%. Your limits may be higher than the defaults. Check the app before you move the money, not after. Picking an emergency fund by the highest APY is a mistake. The first question is how fast you can get it back when you need it. Would you (or have you) moved yours for 6%? Did you read the fine print? I wrote about it in my essay below. 👇🏾

It’s Friday, so here’s a hello to all the new faces around here! 👋 A little about me: I spent 16 years leading teams in data analytics before making work optional. Now I’m trying my hand at entrepreneurship, building with AI, and figuring things out as I go. I also write about personal finance, investing, AI, and lessons from my journey. Still early days, and always happy to meet people who are building, learning, or just figuring out their next chapter. If you’re into data, AI, finance, or entrepreneurship, say hi! What are you working on these days?

Don’t get so obsessed with collecting option premiums that you miss the bigger opportunity. When your favorite stocks are falling, selling cash-secured puts can be tempting. And sometimes it makes sense, especially if you’re happy buying at a lower price. But here’s the tradeoff. A cash-secured put pays you a premium. If the stock rebounds sharply, that’s generally all you get. Owning the stock gives you the full upside. A long-dated call (LEAPS) offers leveraged upside, but with the risk of losing your entire premium. I’ve been using this volatility to buy shares in some companies I like and 2-year LEAPS in others. I’m not trying to predict the bottom. I’m positioning for what I think these companies could be worth over the next couple of years. Don’t just ask how much premium you can collect. Ask what upside you’re willing to give up.

I have a feeling $RDDT could get acquired at these valuations.

Everyone. Keep calm and take a look at your thesis from when you entered the trade. If it is still true, perhaps it is time to buy some more at a discount. Trim your over exposed position. Weekend is here. Enjoy halloween. Nov will be better.

If a red day in the market ruins your entire day, the market owns more of your life than it should. The last few weeks have been rough. And honestly, nobody knows how much longer the volatility will last. It's tempting to keep refreshing your portfolio, reading every market prediction, and worrying about what tomorrow might bring. But none of that changes the market. If your investments still fit your plan and you don't need to make a decision today, close the app. Go for a walk. Listen to music. Spend time with people you care about. Work on something you enjoy. And if the losses are genuinely keeping you up at night, maybe that's worth paying attention to as well. Your portfolio might be taking more risk than you're comfortable with. Markets will do what markets do. You still get to decide how much of your day they consume. Take care of yourself. The portfolio can wait.

This market is so pathetic it's embarrassing. We are in the earliest days of AI. Every use case you've implemented personally in the last year I guarantee you large enterprises have made 0.1% the progress due to their bloat and bureaucracy. Let that sink in.
