What if you could see with your eyes closed? We’re opening a new series: intimate studio visits with the artists, galleries, performers and partners bringing Tokyo Jazz Club to life. First through the door — Goki Muramoto (@goki_muramoto Goki builds his own instruments and media to explore how we see — working at the edges of vision, light, and perception, where looking becomes something closer to feeling. His pieces ask what it means to share a gaze, to hold an image in the dark, to sense light at the threshold of the eye. Watch, and see how he sees. Goki is presented at Tokyo Jazz Club by @nguyenwahedart
最初にお迎えするのは、村本剛毅(@goki_muramoto)。

Semantic See-through Goggles: Wearing Linguistic Virtual Reality in (Artificial) Intelligence head-mounted camera → the view is described in a single sentence → an image is generated from that sentence → the wearer sees only the regenerated image I’ll be presenting "Semantic See-through Goggles / One and Four Realities(2023-)" at ACM IUI 2026, an international conference on artificial intelligence and human–computer interaction. (Today, July 14, 4 pm-) The work folds image-to-text and text-to-image directly into a pair of glasses, turning the everyday social act of sharing what we see through words into a first-person experience. Building on the latent working hypothesis used by VR—that realities producing the same retinal image or sensory stimulus are virtual/equivalent to one another—the project identifies within our use of language, and proposes as Linguistic Virtual Reality, a radical hypothesis: Realities that become the same sentence are virtual/equivalent to one another. It examines the linguistic mediation of sensation by (artificial) intelligence as a problem of VR. #IUI2026 @SaitoHiroto @MasaharuHirose @drinami

My first solo exhibition in New York, Eyes Half Open, opens June 1 at Nguyen Wahed. The exhibition brings together three viewing instruments I invented: Imagraph, a projector for closed eyes; Lived Montage, glasses that cinematically share vision among participants; and Training Wheels, lenses formed from written instructions and polished brass rings. The exhibition takes up “eyes half open” as a recurring posture for mediating the distance between oneself and what lies beyond. On view June 1–22 Opening reception June 4, 6–8 pm Curated by Sofia Thiệu D’Amico @nguyenwahed @NEWINC @w_a_n_art
