It's hard to read stuff like this and not come away thinking Quine was right about modality lol
Dr. James Anderson, argument from the laws of logic
"We argue that the laws of logic are necessarily true propositions, and that means that they must exist in every possible world. So we argue that propositions are real entities; they do in fact exist, and necessarily true propositions must exist in every possible world. What is more, propositions are essentially thoughts; they are mental entities. So at this point, when you put it together, we have the argument that the laws of logic are necessarily existent thoughts. And if there are necessarily existent thoughts, then there must be a necessarily existent mind, because you cannot have thoughts without a mind. But, of course, this mind cannot be a human mind, because human minds are contingent. So if there's a necessarily existent mind, well, there must be a person, and this person must not be a material being, but a spiritual being. And so we've got now an argument for a necessarily existent personal, spiritual being—in other words, an argument for God."

Anyone who unironically advocates for epistemicism as a solution to the Sorites paradox will be hung, drawn and quartered under my dictatorship.

Yesterday’s election was a comprehensive triumph for continental philosophy and devastating defeat for analytic philosophy. Submit to your new overlord, Judith HUSSEIN Butler.
I also really dislike the implication that the academy is the obvious place for the life of contemplation. It seems like an insanely stressful grind not dissimilar to big law or finance in the first place

On Denoting is the most hilerite paper I've ever read. Symbolic language is, until further investigation, evil

Once had dinner with Hintikka, I suspect a result of the professor who invited us thinking my girlfriend at the time was hot. Fun fact, he had a bust of himself in his house.

The extent of interactions between non-philosophical fields and LP makes it at an odd choice for uselessness compared to what analytic philosophy has evolved into and how insular it has become. It is difficult to imagine a Brecht or Meyer Schapiro engaging w/ modern AP.

Hegel first advocated realism; and Hegel unfortunately was about at the average degree of German correctness in logic.

not sure if there's a faker position than "the continental philosophy guy that reviles all of analytic philosophy EXCEPT Wittgenstein he's cool"
I think everyone involved has a better idea of what most undergraduate education looks like right now. The idea that you could reliably get a cohort to read an entire book in any capacity, let alone over a week is completely alien to my experience as an undergrad.
Just started reading this and the first chapter has an egregious misreading of Thomas Kuhn's Structure of Scientific Revolutions. Very unfortunate.
Russell's book on the history of philosophy was written purely for money and if you were stupid enough to read it that makes him smarter than you. You are a rube.

If you are a moral realist, you shouldn’t get to vote because you'd be a single-issue voter on maintaining and increasing Justice, plus voting for any party that promises to do this.
