Renewables means less shipping
- a ship full of solar panels displaces 100 future coal shipments
- a ship of solar panels displaces 50 LNG shipments
@IEA report shows future tech has already reduced global shipping needs 10% in a decade
reneweconomy.com.au/one-ship… @renew_economy
Global shipping
10,438 tankers transporting oil and gas
~10,400 bulk carrier shipping coal
= 34% world's merchant ship fleet (60250 vessels)
Ship fleet ageing
Older ships pollute more @UNCTAD

Perspective: Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb.
When a reporter asked, "How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?"
Edison replied, "I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps."
Success is the trophy of perseverance.

Haha never thought I’d quote the Daily Mail, but safety is the #1 reason why my wife & I traded in our 2020 Subaru Forrester for 2023 Tesla Model Y because we love our kids 😜
All the benefits you list above plus many, many more - & the awesome tech in Teslas are bonuses 😊👍

🧵 9 march 2017 was a remarkable day in australia's energy transition.
it could be said that our understanding of batteries' role in the grid fundamentally changed between morning and evening.

every so often it hits me just how modest the referendum ask is.
all we are being asked is whether to recognise our first peoples and give them a voice that can’t be taken away.
so simple.
it’s so easy to say yes… and so heartbreaking if we say no.

For Tesla FSD to be truly autonomous, they will need to emulate this sort of performance from Waymo.
In this report, Waymo reported 18 collisions per 6.1M autonomous miles driven. It took Waymo 21 months to generate this data, between 2019-2020. Data was collected with a human sitting in the driver’s seat to supervise the vehicle.
By the end of 2023, Tesla will have approximately 2M vehicles operating with HW3/4 in the US alone. Assume each car drives on average 10 miles/day across the fleet, and assume that on any given day, 10% of the fleet is driving, Tesla could generate 6M autonomous miles in ~3 days.
Tesla could get this data while the car still operates as a lvl 2 driver assistant system, as they’re doing today. This data could support a regulatory submission in less than a week.
My point in all this: if Tesla can solve the technological challenge, everything else will happen FAST. Data will be collected FAST (and we won’t even know when Tesla is collecting data for the purpose of submission because they have the fleet-wide data and we don’t). And even if it takes the regulators time to review/approve Tesla’s submission, that is irrelevant because people won’t wait for the approval before buying FSD and Tesla won’t wait for the approval before pricing a fully-autonomous software appropriately.
All of this can happen in a mere moments, and then, in an instant, Teslas everywhere would make human driving obsolete. And it won’t cost Tesla a penny in extra costs to get there. This is Tesla’s fundamental competitive advantage. THIS is the FSD Tesla bull case, in 1 post.

This should be the ONLY law of the Internet.
George Wilson down under retweeted
The laws of the Internet:
1. Streisand effect. Any attempt to censor info on the web will lead to said info being widely spread.
2. Muphry’s law. If you leave a comment correcting someone, there will always be a mistake in it.
3. Cunningham’s law. The best way to get an answer to a question is to answer it wrongly yourself and wait for someone to correct you.
4. Armstrong’s law. The longer a conversation goes without mention of America, the more likely an American is to arbitrarily bring up the moon landing.
5. CAD’s theorem of topic culture. A smart is less likely to receive a reply than a stupid post because it leaves less to be said, but a really full and comprehensive post will bring the conversation to a halt.
6. Wadsworth’s content. The first 30% of any video contains no worthwhile information.
