Many farmers are reluctant to change management techniques without knowing how much the soil health practices will cost or benefit them. So, @Farmland found “soil health successful farmers,” and conducted benefit-cost analyses. nature.ly/2TyYeLW

I'm loving this dialogue about leadership emerging through women's learning circles on land. Powerful words from @Caitlin__Joseph: "These are women who, within their lifetime, couldn't get a credit card on their own." Thanks Caitlin, @G_Roesch @gplot @Farmland for your work!

I’m a 4th generation farmer, and my great-grandmother was the one who really drove our family’s farming efforts and taught my dad. #GenderEquality in farming starts w/ seeing women as capable farmers and recognizing that they always have been even w/o official titles.

OK USDA staff. You are not providing producers with info when dairy guys are calling me asking if I think they will be compensated for having to pour out their milk no one is able to buy. I shouldn't have to answer for USDA and say I think a program will be coming out soon.

I'm hearing from farmers that they are preparing for a huge economic hit coming up. Weddings cancelled, Markets shut down. Going to be tight coming up for many small and medium scale farms that rely on direct sales to pay the bills and those that work on the farm

Working with a #USDA colleague, we estimated if US farmers adopted cover crops on 25% of our cropland & conservation tillage on 100% of tillable acres, we could reduce nearly 150 million metric tons of CO2 per year, or 1/4 of total US ag emissions. @ClimateCrisis

.@farmland documented the co-benefits of soil health practices on 4 farms across the US. After implementing new soil practices, they found in addition to reducing GHG emissions by an average of 379%, these same farms significantly cut N, P, & sediment losses & increased yields.
