When California Fish & Wildlife K-9 Warden kills a poacher in self-defense, she finds herself on a collision course with not just his family, but also businessmen who will commit to any crime, including murder, to capitalize on California's drought-driven water wars.

The Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Program is hands down one of the best-kept secrets in our Corps.
Today I visited #NROTC #SanDiego to speak with future officers about the #Navy and #MarineCorps. Seeing smart, capable individuals choose a life of service is encouraging. For enlisted #Marines, programs like MECEP offer a path to earn a degree and become an officer!

The Marine Corps almost court-martialed one of its best pilots for stopping a mass shooter.
His crime was not asking permission first.
New Orleans, January 7, 1973. Sunday morning. A 23-year-old named Mark Essex gets into the downtown Howard Johnson's with a .44 carbine and a bag of ammunition.
Police already knew him, they just didn't know his name. A week earlier, on New Year's Eve, someone had ambushed New Orleans officers and vanished into the night. That was him.
This time he isn't planning on running.
He moves floor to floor shooting whoever he finds. A couple from out of town. The hotel manager. The assistant manager. He lights fires in the rooms as he goes. Then he climbs to the roof and settles into a concrete stairwell enclosure that might as well be a pillbox.
From up there he can see the whole street, and the whole street can see him. They just can't hit him.
Cops fire up at the roof all afternoon. Essex waits, leans out, shoots, disappears. Officers go down. One of them is the deputy superintendent of the department.
Ten miles away, at the Marine air station in Belle Chasse, Lt. Col. Chuck Pitman is watching it on the news.
He's a Vietnam helicopter pilot with three combat tours behind him. Silver Star. Purple Heart. Four Distinguished Flying Crosses. He looks at that rooftop and sees the obvious answer nobody on the ground has.
Get above him.
Pitman doesn't wait for orders. He finds three Marines who'll go, takes a CH-46 Sea Knight and flies it into the middle of a major American city. He lands near the unfinished Superdome and picks up a team of police sharpshooters.
Then he goes to work.
Pass after pass over the roof. Essex keeps hiding when the helicopter comes in and stepping out to shoot at it as it leaves. Pitman notices.
On one run, instead of flying off, he spins the helicopter around and comes straight back.
Essex is out in the open with nowhere to go.
The shooters on board and on the nearby rooftops all fire at once. When it was over, the autopsy counted more than 200 wounds.
Nine people were dead across the week, five of them police officers. Nobody else would be added to that list.
New Orleans made Pitman an honorary police chief.
The Marine Corps opened talks about a court-martial. A lieutenant colonel had just taken a military aircraft into a domestic shootout on his own authority.
It took F. Edward HΓ©bert, the New Orleans congressman who happened to chair the House Armed Services Committee, to recommend the Corps let it go.
It did. Pitman went on to help plan the 1980 hostage rescue attempt in Iran and retired a lieutenant general.
Not bad for a guy who once stole a helicopter.

Iβm not looking for opinions. Itβs either you do it, or you donβt. If you are friends with me, you should be aware of my sentiments regarding Veterans. I am fairly confident that I already know 22 individuals who will assist, but I am hopeful that I will receive more responses, as this is a pressing concern. 22 Veterans succumb to their struggles daily. May I ask a few friends to copy and repost this message? Someone's life may depend on it. β€οΈβπ©Ή

πΊπ¦ Look at Volodymyr Zelenskyy in 2019. Now look at him in 2026. It's almost impossible to believe this is the same man. War has changed his face, his eyes, and his entire life.
Four and a half years of unimaginable pressure. Thousands of sleepless nights. Fallen soldiers, destroyed cities, shattered families, and millions of lives depending on his decisions.
People criticize him, demand victories, and blame him for mistakes. But how many of his critics could survive even a month carrying such responsibility?
Imagine confronting Putin's brutality, begging allies for weapons, enduring betrayal and empty promises, and knowing that every decision could cost human lives.
Zelenskyy is not perfect. He makes mistakes, and criticism is essential in a democracy. But there is a difference between holding a leader accountable and blindly hating someone who carries the weight of an entire nation.
On February 24, 2022, many expected Ukraine to collapse within days. Zelenskyy was offered evacuation. He refused. He stayed in Kyiv with his people.
Today, he continues fighting for Ukraine's survival, independence, and future.
You don't have to love Zelenskyy or agree with every decision he makes. But you cannot deny his courage, endurance, and extraordinary responsibility.
History will judge his presidency. But it will also remember that when Ukraine faced its darkest hour, he did not run.
War has aged him. Exhausted him. Changed him forever. But it has not broken him.
πΊπ¦ He stayed. He stood firm. And Ukraine is still standing.

Maybe the hardest thing in writing is simply to tell the truth about things as we see them.

Your first draft is NOT supposed to be good.
Your first draft is not supposed to be good.
Say it with me: your first draft is NOT supposed to be good.
It's supposed to be messy and contradictory and full of plot holes.
Look at every book you love on your shelf and realize that exactly ZERO of them started out that way.
They all started out as rough drafts riddled with issues that got ironed out in revision.
So trust the process and keep going. Your draft doesn't have to be good yet βΒ it just has to be on the page.
The use of sensitivity readers is considered by some to be censorship and by others to be a valuable tool. I fall in the latter group. I recently got feedback from a new sensitivity reader who said to not use a term that an earlier sensitivity reader had suggested I use. It made me realize sensitivity readers can provide different and even contradictory suggestions. Iβm okay with that. Deciding which advice to take and how to utilize the input is part of the creative process for me. What do you think?
