Big big hire with Sean Sweeney heading to Orlando
Lead assistant with tons of head coaching experience
Billy Donovan has agreed to become the lead assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs and head coach Mitch Johnson, sources tell me and @PeteThamel. After 11 seasons as a head coach in Chicago and Oklahoma City, Donovan accepts the position with the Western Conference champions.

Detroit went to Tobias Harris so many times when the offense bogged down
Late clock grenades, iso/post up, everything got tough in the playoffs as he became one of the only viable options for the Pistons’ offense
He’ll have a more efficient shot profile in San Antonio

Tobias Harris’ per-game playoff stats (and team rank) for Detroit this year:
18.1 points (2nd)
1.4 3PM (3rd)
7.2 rebounds (3rd)
1.5 steals (2nd)
0.8 blocks (4th)
35 minutes (2nd)
Spurs have their top four, needed a big wing, and got a top-3 guy off a 60-win 1 seed for the job.

Regarding his surgically repaired knee, Jayden Quaintance said he is "still in a little pain" and is facing "another surgery" to clean up his meniscus.
He did not have a date for the surgery. Asked if he expects to be ready for training camp, he said, "I'm not sure yet."

Quaintance combined for 90 stocks (63 blocks, 27 steals) in only 24 games in his injury-shortened freshman season at Arizona State in 2024-25.
He was the only player in the nation to reach that number in less than 25 games.

Mason Plumlee has plenty of experience as either an NBA starter or key rotation player.
He won't be gaining any more with the Spurs, but he still thinks he can make an impact with the club.

This is a payday to 8 specific Senators: Blackburn, Tuberville, Graham, Hagerty, Hawley, Sullivan. Johnson and Lummis, for no reason other than that they did enough suspicious stuff on Jan 6 to have their phone records subpoenaed. That’s what Republicans are fighting for tonight.
Neguse: I think it is outrageous for these Republican senators to effectively guarantee themselves million-dollar paydays, a provision in this bill that very clearly applies to them. The removal of all relevant immunity defenses on the part of the United States government. This is insanity to allow this provision to go forward
