🚨 John Healey has admitted that businesses have been under 'a lot of pressure' because of Labour's Unemployment Act, higher taxes and endless red tape.
Who does he think is responsible?!

Simply astonishing🤯
Lucy Powell said the pay rise was fully funded. The National Education Union celebrated it despite warnings from many head teachers and the Conservatives that this wasn’t true.
Now we find out SEND staff are being cut to fund the pay rise. Total chaos from Lucy Powell and it’s our must vulnerable children who are suffering.
Only we Conservatives have a plan to tackle the deficit, reduce the welfare burden and make Britain prosperous again.
🚨 Government borrowing of more than £3 trillion – the highest in history – and rising inflation show Labour has lost control of the economy.
Healey’s Budget must take urgent action to tackle the deficit, reduce red tape and net zero costs that are driving up the cost of living.
🚨 Rachel Reeves’ two Budgets were catastrophic. She raised taxes by more than £2,000 for every household.
But could John Healey be even worse?
We Conservatives have set him five simple tests. 👇
If the Chancellor is serious, none of them should be difficult.

This is the result of a quadruple whammy - the £25 b increase in national insurance particular affecting the lower paid and part timers ; the huge increases in the minimum wage especially for young people; the mess on business rates; and the prohibitive Employment Rights Act .
This in today’s @FT from someone who was an adviser to Andy Burnham is quite the comment:
We are living beyond our means, passing on an ever-growing mountain of debt to the next generation.
It must change.
We Conservatives will be honest, cut welfare and wasteful spending to get our country back on track.
The Treasury must be wary of giving us another flawed ‘Project Fear’ in reverse. It’s credibility will be on the line.
Cheaper energy would do far more for the UK economy than another decade of debating closer links to the low-growth EU.

🚨 Job vacancies have dropped to their lowest level in 12 years outside the pandemic.
Businesses can’t afford to hire, with 176,000 fewer jobs available than when Labour took office.
This is what happens when you attack employers, tax jobs, and put up red tape.
🚨 Labour are determined to destroy the millions of family businesses across the UK.
Most are small businesses that, like farms, are already being crushed.
As Chancellor, I would back our family businesses.
We Conservatives will scrap Labour’s Family Business Death Tax.
Our country’s fiscal situation is in a perilous state, and our debt trajectory shows no meaningful sign of improving. The sooner we recognise this, the better.
This is the key test for the Chancellor's upcoming Budget.

🚨 The City doesn't have faith in John Healey.
Investors are voting with their wallets because Labour refuse to rule out another tax raid or get a grip on debt.
Another deeply concerning vote of no confidence in Labour's Britain.
🚨 Labour has lost the trust of small businesses.
Sadly, no surprise.
They have been hammered – from the Jobs Tax to endless red tape.
As Chancellor, I’ll back our risk-takers and job creators.
We’ll scrap business rates for thousands of high street firms, repeal the job-killing measures in Angela Rayner’s Unemployment Act, replace Making Tax Difficult and cut energy costs.
We are the only party with a serious plan to back our small businesses.

John Healey reportedly wants to help small businesses at the Budget. New polling by @OpiniumResearch for @CPSThinkTank shows they definitely need it!
Opinium polled 500 SMEs bosses across the UK. Overwhelmingly, they felt govt wasn't on their side. But help do they need? (1/?)
Two weeks ago I made tax simplification a priority for every Treasury Minister in the next Conservative government.
I am delighted to see the leading body for accountants @ICAEW now commit to an independent commission on precisely this.
It’s a terrible look for Britain when the Chancellor and PM squabble like an airport couple who’ve missed their flight.
⬇️
I asked John Healey to rule out an exit tax. He refused, saying he couldn't comment on speculation.
But this week, he ruled out another tax rise. Why was that different?
Worries about an exit tax are already costing Britain. Chris Rokos — who paid more than £300m in tax last year — has left. Others are following.
Rokos paid as much in tax as 38,000 average taxpayers, and he could take his company and all of the tax his employees pay with him.
The Chancellor must act now. So why is he willing to rule out other tax rises but not this one?
On 12 September, I asked the Chancellor to rule out an exit tax. He refused, claiming the Government ‘does not comment on rumour and speculation’.
Ok... But this week his own officials DID comment on "rumour and speculation" to rule out other tax rises. Why? What changed?
Clearly he could now end this damaging speculation by ruling out an exit tax, so I have written to him again urging him to do so. 👇
John Healey's mismanagement is already damaging our country. The uncertainty and fear of tax rises mean more of Britain’s biggest taxpayers will leave, jeopardising public services and increasing borrowing. He must act now.
