ALT @Trans_Safety: Some preliminary testing indicates that Twitter is deboosting tweets containing certain words, including preventing them being shown as previews in DMs. Current suspected words include (without letters not punctuation): - Trans - Gay - Lesbian - Queer - Bisexual Try yourself. ALT Tweet 6: Heterosexual is also fine, but homosexual is not! Our current thinking is - because of how other partially filtered words which keep "sex" intact interact - is that anything containing "sex" is banned, but explicit exemptions have been made. Not including queer sexualities. Tweet 7: However, we have since debunked this hypothesis because made-up words like testsextest and testsex work fine. So it's not a ban on "sex" with a whitelist being used. But - it's also not a specific blacklist, because "Middlesex" gets caught. So we're not sure of the cause.
ALT Tweet 8: IMPORTANT UPDATE: We have just found that the filter blocked the initialism G.C. (without punctuation marks) - short for "gender critical" is also blocked.
