If I had introduced this to my chefs they would have slaughtered me and put me in the rational.
i HATE how an engineer invented the correct way to write recipes like 20 years ago and nobody else ever used it

Is this too much for a LinkedIn bio: In a former life, running a group of restaurants, I witnessed an employee s**t themselves, pass out on mushrooms, lock themselves in a basement, and set themselves on fire. The last of these actions I am sure was accidental. The others remain open to interpretation. People still have the capacity to surprise me. However, people, the bar is set high.

when thinking about personal software there is one important thing to keep in mind: entertainment benefits from exploration. utility benefits from delegation.

Today, Ramp raised $1.85B at a $60B valuation. Seven years ago, Karim and I wrote our mission on a Post-it: “Save companies time and money.” Our mission hasn't changed. It’s just gotten bigger.

The fact that Tesla was able to keep the development of the Roadster a secret for so long is pretty impressive.

interpretability might be the most important scientific problem in the world right now, as I don't think we can solve alignment if we don't know what we're building. I think I have good news about it. I co-authored early work in mechanistic interpretability at OpenAI and came away pessimistic, because neural networks appeared to fold into arbitrary tangled knots. years later, I started openai's first large-scale automated interpretability project, finding about 2% of neurons legible with the primitive tools we had with modern agentic tools and a much closer look, the picture looks totally different. the vast majority in models up to trillions of parameters are legible, and their circuits beautiful. many famous examples of tangled neurons turned out to be misunderstood. The roadblocks I expected mostly aren't there. I now think ambitious interpretability will be solved by the time we need it most, and possibly quite soon, as automated scientists keep improving. it may be a bitter lesson for interpretability: the simple thing, at absurd scale, works already-clean.goodfire.com/

i have no horse in the race here - but to everyone trashing the 8am-8pm requirement, availability weekends and nights, and 3 year commitment... this is the tacit/unsaid requirement of every job I have ever had that had real growth, learning, and ownership baked into it. the only difference is VK is being explicit about it in the JD
I'm hiring my next Chief of Staff. You won’t know every field I work in. What matters is how quickly you learn, the questions you ask, and whether you can think from first principles. You’ll help evaluate opportunities and work with founders building consequential companies. Technical background preferred. Three-year commitment. Menlo Park, in person. These aren't permanent scarcities. Liability is a social construct and retirement/obselecence is transitional. Neither is permanent. Both forces present an arbitrage moment, an opportunity to capitalise on institutional and societal lag and hopefully survive the underlying technology's commoditisation (what can we sell while humans are still required and what proprietary asset are we able to accumulate). Hindsight will show this to be a very small window of time. It is curious to think that the companies being founded now exist because of this window and their entire experience of time is inside it.

LLMs are either not capable or not affordable for visual reasoning tasks at scale. The Elorian team - one of Jeff Dean’s best reports who led Gemini, an Apple LLM lead, xAI lead, and a Harvard professor - just launched an Astra-level visual reasoning model, Glimpse, for 17x cheaper. Watch it break down the flying Tesla video physics here. Extremely critical for video inputs in manufacturing, robotics, gaming, content moderation and more.
Spent years watching models ace a single image and completely whiff on anything that moves or changes angle. Today we’re fixing that. Try Glimpse now, our first visual thinking model with competitive frontier performance compared to Astra on key public visual reasoning benchmarks.

people are starting to realize. there *are* no moats left. the only true moat in existence was intelligence, and now that's out of the equation.

My agency (forge.coop) did the design for Zohran’s campaign. While I wish I played a part, it was all the masterful work of my partners, Aneesh and Phil. Having worked with these 2 for close to a decade, it’s no surprise they created what many consider (the most?) iconic political branding. I’ve seen Aneesh go deep into the archives of typography and color theory, and Phil spend hours custom-building animations to bring a UI to life. HYPED to see their work getting the credit it deserves.

After 18 years, this bug is finally fixed.
Request for @nikitabier. I see it on all social platforms. I load the app, see something I want to read. Then the feed reloads and I lose it… can we fix this?

Becoming dependent on the chatbot is like becoming dependent on a butler for all of your news and communications: convenient at first, but eventually you’re going to get gaslit or snuffed out with a pillow. macwright.com/2025/05/29/put…
