328 studies over 50 years show that direct instruction (structured guidance for teachers, teaching discrete skills before application, daily checks on learning, regular testing for mastery) has consistent, large positive effects on student achievement: bit.ly/2Leaaxl ($)

It's often assumed that some ACEs are more damaging than others. In fact, all ACEs matter and can cause harm. The impact that different ACEs have will vary based on length and chronicity of exposure, and of course the resilience resources available to the individual #ACEsCymru

Interesting take on it... nitter.gq/dtwillingham/status/97…
Apparently schools are bad because 100 years ago evil corporations duped them into prepping workers for factories. And the solution is to emphasize cooperative, creative work, because that's what present-day, non-evil corporations say is needed for jobs of the future. Got it.

#NetworkEdChat Could pick any technique from Teach Like a Champion 2.0, but observe teachers using 'STAR', 'Cold Call' and 'Show Call' most days. All very powerful.
