I did not know the capitalists' meltdown over "quiet quitting" is actually about people only doing exactly the job they are contracted and paid to do. I legit thought it was about people doing work slowdowns, withholding efficiency, etc.

Just walked by an ice cream stall (about 9:30am) and my son asked for an ice cream. Me: It’s too early for ice cream. Him: Then why are they open? I’ve got nothing.

Water levels in the Murray River at Echuca were at 94.84m (AHD) at 2pm on Sunday, the highest the water has been here since 1867. #vicfloods

November is here, and that means a massive shift is coming. And by "massive" I am of course referring to the redefinition of the kilogram unit of mass that the world has been building up to for more than 100 years. Let me explain:

Since #COP27 is coming up quickly, just re-posting this fantastic analysis from @_neil_grant. Yes: countries are ratcheting up their climate targets. No: they aren't doing that fast enough to limit warming to 1.5C (assuming targets are met which....yeah) granthaminstitute.com/2022/0…

So much water coming in from the Goulburn, it’s pushing the Murray backwards! – at Melbourne, Victoria
The Murray River flowing backwards under the Barmah bridge at Barmah. Video is from Peter Newman who has never seen this in his lifetime.

Closed door Academic freedom for plutocrats and their paid cranks. Wonderful job, Stanford, as always.
Stanford is hosting an Academic Freedom Conference next month. My request to attend has been denied: "We are not inviting the media to our conference in order to foment a more open discussion." cli.stanford.edu/events/conf…

No one person's "scientific quality" is more important than another person's humanity. Universities need to fire abusers, not let them sacrifice their students and colleagues to keep polishing their own shiny CVs.
Replying to @AstroJoeC
I now rescind my previous tweet. This is a comment from the chair of the executive board in Leiden "Because the committee has also established that the scientific quality of this professor is indisputable, there is no reason to deprive him of his professorship.”

A week ago Toyota's sales and marketing boss railed against "electric vehicle extremism" at the launch of the Corolla Cross Hybrid. Today they've been hit with a class action alleging they used "defeat devices" to tamper with emissions controls: toyotadieselclassaction.com.…

Table 5.x is the real killer table in this report. It details stuff businesses should be doing before they gobble up cheap offsets for their net zero targets. So ask companies this: have you tried all these things?? If you haven't - why are you buying offsets??

1.5 BILLION for a petrochem hub in Darwin Harbour, from the Albanese government. Weird how little this has been covered. Please watch and share Enviro Centre NT's video. These hubs cause significant and terrible health impacts directly and through climate effects
The Albanese Government’s announcement that will fund $1.5billion for the Middle Arm petrochemicals hub is a disaster for our health and climate. It’s a fossil fuel subsidy, pure and simple. vt.tiktok.com/ZSRgWG6QP/
