People don't have ideas. Ideas have people.
Are you ready to be exposed to the Meta-meme? Memetic hazards ahead.

This clarifies to me the right wing/gay male coalition that seems to be growing.
Of course people who idealize masculinity (for different reasons) are drawn together, and they'll both develop a distaste for the coalition that vilifies it.
The problem is we haven't yet culturally evolved our consciousness yet to handle birth control.
You have to fully grok your mortality and "God" to accept the sacrifice of parenthood by choice rather than through primal pleasure drive.
Toy sales among adult-only households have now outpaced households with children for toy sales, growing 16% through June, according to a market research group. nbcnews.com/business/consume…
Cities are gene shedders.
They take in adult genes, consume their time with endless entertainment and winnow those genes out of the broader population.
This doesn't mean city dwellers have no children or that there aren't exceptions, but that on average they'll always have so few that their genetic contribution to the species will diminish rapidly.
Only those who escape to the suburbs and beyond will have enough children on average to maintain or expand their genetic impact on the future.
This is the primary form of natural selection happening today. The future belongs to those who escape the siren call of cities and voluntarily create a boredom vacuum in their lives that children fill.
A corollary is that if you want to genocide a population, the cleanest way to do it is to give them subsidized housing in the city, free birth control, and entertain them to extinction.
Recently, I had a conversation with an ostensibly well educated medical professional who was talking up how much they love the EV they got last year and how great it is to charge at home.
And then in the same conversation, they start raging against data centers and how their electric bill has doubled over the past year because of them.
"serious money, a suit"
@JasonPLowery talks about this. Abstract power that doesn't want to get their hands dirty with physical reality. Titles and crowns that tell swords what to do and hope they continue listening.
The odds of me, serious money, a suit, rolling 100 dice is zero in my life time. No serious people are going to do this, most certainly not an institution, and to think i would then diversify across 4 different providers, 400 rolls of dice.....GTFO....This is not scaleable.
It is delusional to think people investing millions of dollars are going to roll dice 100 times or anything else so stupid.
Secondly; you are a moron at this point to connect or use software or hardware to protect hundreds of millions of dollars built by companies that have never been profitable, have no revenue growth, no path to profitablity, no excess profits to reinvest in security and R&D, and zero sustainable use case or relevance, and a total incapcity to take on millions of customers to scale and service them.
At this point Self Custody is a joke, it is not sustainable, and if the only real bitcoin is self custody bitcoin with a punk-small organization is dumb and announces bitcoin's failure as an experiment.
The concept of the fascist bitcoiners, who have never run or built sustainable businesses, who are anarchist, not creators, not builders of real businesses, who in their hearts want the entire system to collapse so they the anarchists with no experience to build industries, yets pretent to be experts promoting and advertising self custody I hold 1000 bitcoin on ledger or a casa is the dumbest think I have ever heard.
I find it hard to empathize with the tall men who complain about this.
Society is full of ways tall men get unearned advantage, and this one thing that makes them slightly less comfortable than average people causes them to whine incessantly like little bitches.
At what point do airlines run out of passenger space to cut? 🤔
Flew a @cathaypacific A321neo aircraft on a 4-hour flight from HKG-KUL.
The passenger in front reclined the *entire* flight -- including meals.
That left just 18" between my headrest and the seatback in front 😬
The market will always balance out the amount of fight you have to do.
Either fight the climate, or fight for the money so you can live where you don't have to fight the climate.
Either way, life is a never ending fight until you die.
Chop wood. Carry water.
Professional know-a-lotter smart person™ types (e.g. @hankgreen, @neiltyson, etc) are really going to start falling off hard for what I see as 3 big reasons.
a) AI is smarter and better at knowing a lot of things and teaching them to you.
b) These guys are increasingly proven to be wrong-a-lot as they dive deeper into complex subjects, and the internet exposes that and remembers. They almost always make the common smart person mistake of thinking type 2 chaotic systems like politics or markets are as predictable and knowable as non chaotic systems. When you try publicly knowing lots of things for sure about politics and economics, you end up being wrong a lot. It's just the Prophet's Curse.
c) Finally, AI is going to accelerate the advent and prevalence of weird things that are real and work, but are hard to make sense of with traditional ways of knowing. They'll very confidently say that X isn't possible or a scam because of these very rational reasons, and they'll end up being completely wrong because we magic'd the thing into existence in really unintuitive ways. It will be like dismissing human flight as impossible, but 10x worse because you'll be proven wrong in years or months instead of decades or lifetimes.
The age of acceleration is a time to practice humility and be a type of guy who's just trying to be less wrong, not one who's always right.
A different interpretation is that the rich and powerful are actually honest and not 2 faced liars and cheaters.
Believing otherwise is low class projection of their own lack of virtue.
The upper class become so by playing the meta game well, which usually means blunt honesty.
This is exactly how the tech companies bait and switch interns into accepting an offer here.
Bait with summer internship experiencing peak PNW wonderland, switch with winter sunrise and sunset during standard work hours.
