Most people think prediction markets are about betting. They're not. They're about resolution — deciding what actually happened. And that single problem is where 99% of them quietly break. On the latest @PricedInpod episode, @kash_bot founder said something that reframed the whole industry for me: "AI isn't just the best way to resolve markets. It's the only way." Here's why that's not hype👇 Think about what "permissionless" actually means. Anyone, anywhere, can spin up a market. A 15-minute market. A 5-minute one. Something hyper-niche about their own community that no analyst on Earth has ever heard of. Now ask: who resolves it? UMA token holders? A centralized desk like @Kalshi ? At that volume, at that speed, across infinite micro-markets — it's physically impossible to do it by hand. The math just doesn't work. So you're left with two options: → Kill permissionless (defeats the point) → Automate resolution completely They chose the hard one. But here's the part that stuck with me: "There are a million ways to make a mistake with AI. There's only one way to do it right." Everyone's bolting an LLM onto their product and calling it innovation. The real work is invisible — reading PDFs, turning live streams into transcripts, feeding those into models to understand context, then matching that against what actually happened in reality. That's not a feature. That's a company inside a company. And they built it in-house. 12+ months. Not outsourced. Why? Because whoever owns resolution owns trust. And in prediction markets, trust IS the product. You can't rent that. You can't buy it off a shelf. You have to own the entire experience end to end — or you don't really own anything. The teams racing to become "the next Polymarket" are fighting over the wrong layer. The moat was never the markets. It was always the oracle.🧠 Full episode dropping soon. “a sportsbook takes the other side of your bet. prediction markets don’t.” that single distinction is why the gambling label doesn’t hold up. good read.
Yes, a bet and a trade often look similar. But how they work is fundamentally different. A sportsbook sets the odds and takes the other side of your bet. Prediction markets are markets, where buyers and sellers compete to discover and produce efficient prices and enable important public benefits. What the market is about can change, but the structure doesn't. My op-ed on prediction markets and regulation:

🎙️Why 10x leverage on prediction markets actually matters. Great conversation with @SteveFlanders22, Founder & CEO of @Lattica Prediction markets did $60B+ in 2025 and now clear billions weekly yet almost all of it still runs at 1x. Capital sits locked in outcome tokens, idle and un-levered. Why Lattica: → Borrow against your prediction-market positions → Trade outcomes with up to 10x leverage → Supply USDC and earn from leverage demand no directional bet required The thesis is simple: prediction markets have the volume, now they need the credit layer. Leverage turns a sitting position into working capital. Full episode dropping soon 👇

everyone building prediction market leverage asked “how do we liquidate fast enough?” Stefan asked a different question: what if you never liquidate at all? turns out these positions don’t move like derivatives. they move like insurance. so he priced them like an actuary, not a trader. charge the expected loss upfront as a premium. the risk is covered before the trade even opens. one position going to zero doesn’t touch the pool. this is the clip that reframed how I think about the entire space.

Arg vs PMs applies to all tech ever built. AI misused constantly; we & China still race to win via reg, not shutdown. PMs no different: proper laws & guardrails, not a ban.

Talking about my fav topic from my fav coffee shop
the “prediction markets are just gambling” take is lazy. every new technology hits a moment where misuse shows up. the answer is guardrails, not a shutdown. we’re repeating the same mistake we’ve made with AI and every tech before it. shutting it down doesn’t protect anyone. it just holds the country back. @vanishree_rao breaking it down on @PricedInpod.

Who’s betting YES? Insider or pussy.
Smart money moved fast on the Kim Jong Un rumors. As the odds of him leaving power before 2027 spiked, four well-known Polymarket traders bought No: @DropperPM, @elm_cap, @CarOnPolymarket, @debased_PM All four positions are now in profit.

why prediction markets have no real leverage, explained in one line: a position can go from 99 to zero in half a second. you can’t liquidate that. you can’t underwrite against it. every lending model in DeFi assumes prices move smoothly, and these don’t. @SteveFlanders22 from @Lattica on how he solved it after 8 months: stop trying to liquidate, price the risk upfront instead. new on @PricedInpod.
