Hat's Hits IG Live Friday Night Football Recap Special - 10-24-26 (Week 9) xitter.cf/i/broadcasts/1AGRnZOOn…

#5 - If the Concorde Chaos with South Lakes beating Madison 40-28 and Westfield thumping Centreville 48-20 wasn't enough, what's the ONE game you can't miss next week? So many good ones to choose from with ... Indian River / King's Fork Varina / Highland Springs Thomas Dale / Petersburg Oakton / Madison LCA / Heritage-Lynchburg Looking into cloning.

#4 - Hammering two-time defending Region 1D Champ Rye Cove 42-6 on its field sent a strong message this evening. That is Chilhowie is deserving of their current No. 1 ranking in Class 1. Sophomore RB Gunnar Milhorne (4 TD runs) is a game-changer. QB Bryce Robinson (23-0 TD/Int. ratio entering the night) has been flawless. And WR/DB Dylan Martin is dynamic in multiple phases. Going to take someone playing at a really high level to derail their undefeated season.

#3 - Don't look now, but Liberty Christian (@LCABulldogsFB) is starting to play like that No. 1 team in Class 3 that we billed them to be before the season. That stunning blowout loss to Jefferson Forest is now well behind them, thanks to a 36-8 rout of previously unbeaten Brookville. The difference? Besides better play from the defense, the LCA running game - keyed by Mason Gunn - is now much more formidable.

#2 - From no wins over Radford since 1965, to beating the Bobcats in back-to-back years. Carroll County at 8-0 overall is quite a story. Cavaliers were not much of a contender prior to Seth Greer's arrival - - just 6-24 in the three seasons before he got there. Now, they're a serious Class 3 threat with senior QB Colton Gravely (113 yards rushing, a TD on the ground + INT on defense) leading them in a spirited way.

#1 - It's a constant theme each October as we get ready for the playoffs in November. Defense wins Championships. Impressive shutouts pitched by a few teams tonight -- Petersburg (21-0 over Hopewell), Midlothian (37-0 over James River), Cox (41-0 over Bayside) and Oscar Smith (49-0 over Nansemond River) among them.

We're ready for Hat's Hits with 5 Takeaways from another Friday night of Virginia High School Football action . . .
